They’re actually done like that on purpose. The airframes are in various states of regeneration. Meaning if WW3 broke out the planes could “easily” be spun back up into service.looking at pics of Davis Monthan is crazy, the amount of money just wasting away

the dry arid climate in the desert actually keeps corrosion at a minimum, almost nill...many of those planes can be made airworthy fairly quickly and others used for parts etc...
