I'm a long time fan of chiropractics. Way back when, I thought it was witchcraft, voodoo, pseduo-medicine, w/limited practical application, that is until I actually tried it after traditional docs failed to treat my discomforts. The key is to find the right chiro, someone who listens to you. A lot of these guys/gals make ZERO off your medical insurance so they bloat the bill w/a lot of extraneous nonsensical treatment that just feels good, then try to sell you vitamins, put you on a long term plan for 3x a week, bilk your insurance & your checkbook for all its worth- those are the scammers. I've seen more than a few of those clowns & walked away. One guy had me come in 3x in a week but never adjusted me once in the first 3 visits; all he did was talk and do some ludicrous manipulations and pressure points that did nothing. When I finally told him to adjust me or I was leaving, he gave me an adjustment I could've done on my own. Sad fact is the guy had been in business for probably 2 decades and lots of folks fell for his scam. Then I got rear-ended in my Bullitt about a decade back. Insurance picked up the tab and sent me to this real pretty chiro office- mistake #1. All the staff were pretty girls too so you were distracted. The docs, however, were obviously only concerned w/the bottom line. Once the insurance ran out, the docs told me they wouldn't see me anymore, even if I paid out of my own pocket. Guess they made too much $$ bilking the insurance company. But when you find that right guy/gal, it can be magic. I had one guy who told me if he couldn't fix me in 5 visits, I either couldn't be fixed or I needed to see a neurologist. He used some of the techniques shown in this guy's vid, except for the 'ring a ding'- that's a new one on me as I've never seen that in any chiro office I've visited. His techniques helped a bit but didn't cure me. I continued to see the guy when I felt like I needed an adjustment, primarily because I thought him competent and honest. I've had a few others that I felt likewise, were concerned about my issues and I was treated w/dignity, plus they helped alleviate some of the discomfort. Last story- 3 years back I moved and had to find a new local chiro. 2 were recommended & I went to see both. The first guy was just weird and he made me feel very uncomfortable. He was like a hippie chiropractor- very gentle, touchy feely and a dirty office. But my current doc, he's way different. He definitely talks the talk & is a natural/homeopathic healer. Yeah, he's a little fruity but generally does good work. I sat down w/him & laid it out. I told him I wasn't interested in anything but adjustments. Didn't want to hear about his vitamins, yoga classes, long term plans, etc. & that if we could agree that I'd come in when I felt it was necessary & he was good w/that, then we'd have a start. He agreed to all of my conditions, then asked me what was bothering me. I explained my prior issues but that my l. shoulder was bothering me most. At that time, I had a number of issues going on in my shoulder, arthritis being one of them so he asked to take a neck x-ray which I agreed to. He showed my xray compared to a healthy neck x-ray; there were obvious differences that any layperson would see. He then explained what was going on and then showed me some neck arthtitis I had at one of the edges of the discs, right where a nerve travels though that send signals to the shoulder joint. He said he was going to give me a vigorous neck adjustment. Well, he did and my neck cracked like granite cracking. I'd never had a neck adjustment like that. I can only guess that the compression on the nerve was finally relieved. My ortho doc didn't see that & the shoulder injections did nothing to relieve that discomfort, but the chiro adjustment did. So yeah, I understand some people's hesitancy towards chiro's but I ain't one of them.
