Theft light ...

I did a search and didn't really find a definite answer ??? Just trying to understand the PATS a little better . Is it normal for the theft light to blink when you open the door ? As soon as i put the key in the ignition and turn to run ,it turns off and starts fine . It's a 97 cobra "bone stock" . Thanks for any help or insight you guys can give . I just bought it yesterday ......

My 98 does the same thing and runs fine.
