Are these car pretty reliable? I have found a pretty good deal on one with 130k miles. What all should i look for? what are the problem areas etc? thanks for any help and info.

If it grinds badly then skip it because that is a $1000-2000 fix and there is no work around for syncros. Either that or offer $2000 at let them know EXACTLY why. I am sure it won't be a surprise to them. Many people sell their cars instead of paying to rebuild the tranny. It's 12+ hr book time for labor alone.
Damn Glad I never have to pay for a mechanic! :coolman:

You will lose some performance and it will ping occasionally.
Personally I'm not worried about the extra $8-10 a month to run premium. That's a drop in the bucket compared to real bills. Besides most "other" people waste that on fast food in just one day.

I'm not looking specifically for an "SVT Contour" to buy. I just happened to see one for sale along my path to-and-from work everyday, that seemed to be a decent price. I think they look pretty cool, so it made it even better. However, I don't know much about them, so I wanted some more info like the guy that originally started this thread.
And then I saw the 91 "recommended" fuel in the manual, and it kinda surprised me. It makes sense to put Premium in my Lightning (cuz of the supercharger), but I didn't know the Contour had much performance to it. If I buy this car, it would be my daily driver, and I would leave it stock, so I'm not really worried about the high performance loss. I just want something that looks cool and rides nice. And there's not much out there in a four-door style (that is also within the price I wanna pay).
I'll stick to the Premium for my Lightning. And if people still don't see what the big deal is, ...then I wouldn't mind them paying for MY gas!
