third gear

After driving for on the interstate or highway for a while especially when its hot out my trans grinds when going into third and third gear only. IT DOES NOT do this when cold just after extended periods of driving. Synchro problem?

if it was syncro....wouldn't it be 1st as well? I thought that 1/3 used the same syncro and 2/4 did? I could be wrong. What about fluid leave?

How many miles are on the trans?

it has no problem w/going from 2nd to 1st or just into 1st, fluid level is perfect, trans has 16,000 on it as I had the dealer replace it before I drove it off the lot( it wouldnt stay in any gear) I have changed the fluid 3 times. once after it had 1500miles on new trans, again at 8000 and just the other day

What kind of fluid did you put in it? Is it the correct fluid?

I used the mobile 1 synthetic plus ford limited slip additive(not quite half a bottle). Very strange isn't it?

WELL, THATS WHAT I GET FOR USING MOBILE 1 AGAIN, I HAD PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED SOME 5W20 AND WHAT WAS IN THE BOTTLE WAS LIKE STRAIGHT 50W.

Did you use ATF and not manual trans fluid? The correct amount(just under 3 qts IIRC)?
