"We'd always been a bit concerned because we thought we could smell marijuana," said neighbor Don Watson. "And from time to time we would see him carry a gun in. You know, it is the hunting season and you don't think too much about it. He seemed awfully nice."

Why is it always the same? Crazy guy in a neighborhood and the neighbors are always saying....we thought he was a nice guy.

WOW! A 50 cal. and it also looked like either an M-60 or MG-42 in the background. He probably paid $30,000+ for the Browning and 16-18,000 for the 60. I know a guy here who has an M-60 and paid 17,200 for it, he doesnt deal drugs though and has a class 3. There isnt much around a city block that can withstand repeated rounds from a 50 cal. The cops and the neighbors better be glad he didnt have a chance to open up with those weapons! God, I thought I had a pretty nice collection.

Machine guns are outlawed now except for ones that are registed as transferable. His weren't registed so they were illegal to own by a civilian. Someone who is willing to pay the tax stamp to own one of these weapons, get an FBI background check, and pay about $40,000 for one of those .50 cal weapons can lawfully own one. The bad guys are going to get the guns without a permit anyways. Just like this idiot did.

A guy tried to tell me that full automatic weapons can be purchsed from a gun show now because the Brady Bill was allowed to expire recently under Bush. He then went on and was bitching because he said, "the Brady Bill allows people to buy machine guns now and Bush is to blame." He is wrong and a lot of people are confused about this.

Actually I liked the Brady bill because it made weapons more valuable for the collector.

I agree. But just because he got busted doesnt mean he wasnt legal before the bust. Maybe he had a class 3 before the arrest and paid the $2500-3000 every year too keep it and bought the weapons legally. Granted he was engaged in illegal activities but if he wasnt then he has a right entitled by the constitution of the U.S.A too possess them. I do not want to get in some kind of 2nd amendment arguement here but gun control laws are not the answer to americas problems. Tacitus said " The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws." Look at the whole and how much they try to beat us down. In 2004 blind faith in your leaders or in anything will get you killed. Like I said not trying to sound like a radical but am a student of history and we should look at the mistakes made in the past. BTW I'm voting for Bush.
