I've noticed that my button head bolts appear to be developing some rust on the head. I'm concerned that this may weaken the bolt. Can you guys comment on this and put my worries to rest or should I replace them with something else?

Those with the bolts from AFS.. how are those holding up?

Thanks

I've got the AFS bolts...

So far so good, no rust, not broken.

When I pulled the stock bolts out I noticed that the threads had been flattened out after only 6000 miles where the bushing collar must ride over the threads. Haven't pulled the AFS bolts out to see if they have the same issue, but I believe that they were not threaded where the stock bolts were showing wear.

I had a button head bolt fail on me. It was not a cheap fix. I would replace them with the shaved stock bolt.

Anyone have a picture of the AFS bolts?

What is the method used to shave the stock bolts? What tool does the trick?

There's a thread somewhere with the bolts. Just search for "button head bolts"

Used a grinder to shave my stock bolts.

guys, there are other screw head profiles out there. I have not really lookat a my bolts, but if they are button head they would likely have a larger screw head ht than a truss head screw. Not sure if the truss heads are strong enough or come in the right grade for our appllication, but someting to consider

Bingo - which version did you have fail on you? The ones with the shoulder on them, or one of the ones that was threaded all the way up to the head?
