hey i always read about this TICK you guys talk about. i COULD be wrong but mine sounds it's coming from the rear, i don't think it's the engine but that could be because i'm outside the car. the "TICK" only happens when i very first take off from first, it almost sounds like it might be a wheel, but i could be very wrong, you guys got any ideas? do i have the "TICK"?

the "tick" is an engine problem, most don't have it. there seems to be two different kinds of the tick, a valve train noise that makes your cool car sound like a beater, then there is the teflon coat scuffed off the pistons because of excessive heat that means a serious engine job. all these cars have lots of driveline slop which is probably what you are hearing. do a search on the tick and you will be reading for weeks!

it sounds like you might have halfshaft/hub issues

first thing I would do (everyone should do this) is try tightening the axle nuts...many have been found to be much less than the 240 lb ft spec

axle nut is a 36mm and you'll need a high-capacity 1/2" drive torque wrench to be accurate, although you could also just use a bigass breaker bar and tighten as much as you can

What he said. The noise is coming from the halfshaft/hub area.

"I called SVT and the rep told me that since the cars are no longer in production they are not doing any work on any fix of any kind for our cars. This was in relation to the pop tink noise but I got the feeling of a "they got our money so live with it, attitude..."

ok what the hell is that? i was gonna go to the dealer today actually and try to get this fixed, can i still do this?

you should have no problem getting it warrantied, but wipers are considered maintenance items and won't be covered

I agree that passing on the free oil change and wash is usually a good idea unless you know your dealer very well and have total faith in them

best of luck to ya

hmm i'm a bit dissapointed. the dealer just called me and said it was just the axle nuts. from what i read it seemed like a 99% chance it was the half shafts and hubs. i asked him twice, "did you guys check the half shafts?" he said yes their was no damage. can this really be, that the tick is caused from just some axle nuts? =/

well today i put it in reverse to leave and CLICK CLICK CLICK. put it in first CLICK CLICK, it f*cking came back! is it definently the half shafts? all they did at the dealer was tighten the axle nuts. i'm definently taking it back tomorrow, and demanding they replace my half shafts, this is BS!

Before you do anything.....

Are you using tape weights on the wheels? If so, they could be rubbing on the brake calipers out back, especially if they're large weights.

Worth looking at.

The procedure for this in the shop man. states that they are to tighten first and if the tick comes back they are to replace both shafts and hubs...I will serch for my invoice and get the numbers for you.

You got the tink. I had mine replaced at around 700 miles. They should replace both hubs and axels. The tinking that you are hearing are worn splines on the axle "skipping". Upgrading to the DSS kits will also solve this problem :p
