For sale or rent Time Sert spark plug thread repair kit, $250 shipped. This kit is a hybrid of sorts, as it is not sold as one kit, but uses Time Sert tools. This will repair/replace 4 thread heads (03 Cobra) or any 14mm x 1.25 plug blow-out with full length (about 17mm long) threads on the OD and ID of the insert and still retain the taper seat if 44186 inserts are used, not included. The plug holes can not have been repaired before, but can be stripped/blown out. The first kit time-sert will recommend (PN 5553, cost $400) bores and taps the heads for a huge 18mm OD “big-sert” and you still end up with a 4 thread insert on the ID. The inserts this kit will use are 16mm OD and is still large enough to have full length threads on the OD. The 03 Cobra heads also have an ID step above the taper seat in the plug holes, which this kits tooling machines away. Since my heads are done (all 8 holes) I am willing to sell or rent this kit for $250 shipped. If I get the kit back when you are done and the tools are still in useable shape, I will refund you $150, so the cost will be $100 plus the inserts, which for 10 of 44186 on ebay are $46.30 shipped. This kit consists of time-sert 4412-E (extended length tooling kit for 14 x 1.25 plugs), 55518 “triton” counterbore, 55511 wrench/driver for 55518, J-42385-10 driver oil, and Loctite 266, a red high temp (450 F) formula, the cost of which will be at least $325 to your door if purchased new. I have included some pictures of the process, which is remove step (about ¼ to 3/8 of an inch in height) in head with 55518 counterbore, which also sizes (removes existing 14 x 1.25mm threads) plug hole to about 0.555”, tap hole for insert, use seat cutter to cut seat for insert, install insert, use seat cutter to machine taper seat for plug on new insert. Also included is a sleeve I made to put over the shank of the tap turning tool to center (straighten) the tap when cutting the new threads.
