Tire options for 18’s or bite bullet and do 19’s?

the tire I want is the f1 supercar r3 off the zl1-1LE in a 305/325 setup but they’re 19” tires so I’d have to get 19” wheels…

Right now I have 18’s and run toyo tq’s out back.

I’ll have boost by gear/rpm/wheel speed traction control when my efi is all wired up so I’m not super worried about traction and really want to bring out the handling.

Any good 18” 275-305 front, 315-335 rear tire combo out there for handling? It looks like everything is 19’s and 20’s or get forked…

Re71r’s or Bridgestone star specs seem like a decent buy but are lesser alternatives than those 3r’s. I also looked at a trofeo r but that’s too little life to street even as a weekend Summer toy.

Anybody find an awesome 18” handling tire they’ve really liked? More concerned about how the tire drives and feels when pushed hard vs absolute grip and lap time since this is a street car and I just want it to be very fun to drive in a canyon or backroad spiritedly.

You'll probably get some hate for wanting 19s. What most don't understand that you're finding out is tire options narrow FAST when you look above a 275 R18 especially for a handling focused tire. 295 and up your options are EXTREMELY limited.

If you want 19s find something you like with the correct offset and run them. You have some decent options. Chrome makes the wheels look way to big though IMOP.

For sure. I’m going to play with the idea of doing 19’s but running a little taller tires.

Right now I have a stocking 25.7” front (25.5” is stock iirc).

I love the idea of the f1 3r’s in a 305/30/19 (26.25”) front and 325/30/19 rear (26.75”)

If you think sidewall wise that’s close to what 18’s in a 25.5” tall look like on these cars.

I can’t slam the car anyways because my 3” down pipes are pissy and scrap. I think it would just fill the wheel well a bit and be kinda normal looking.

18” track day steerable tires above a 295 basically don’t exist haha. You are 100% correct there.

Also too it’s 2024 and basically everything comes with 19/20/22 whatever now so it’s not like I’m trying to do something freakish just like a lotta classic muscle builds 60’s/70’s era now run bigger wheels cleanly also.

I’d do a satin black or machined metal wheel, no chrome or polished aluminum.

Something clean like a ccw or so on. I’ve always had a soft spot for the sp505a’s.

Some tests and reviews that make me want to try this out. Obviously our cars are not super cars or 1LE’s but a boy can dream and more so enjoy the tires balance haha.

You're going to have a very hard time getting a 305 up front. It's not impossible but you're definitely going to need some modifications to pull it off.

Your tires may sit outside your fenders too.

They do now haha with a 275/35/18.

I’ll probably have to step down to something narrower.

I do have a full maximum Motorsports front suspension, I’m ember and a arms. I also have a Medusa snake head of plumbing tho… it’ll be easy enough to fit a 285 but I’m going to test fit a 305 before I buy any to be sure. Looking at it, if I try to fit a 305 up front, I think I’ll kill the drag coefficient decidedly…. Might jump up from like a .32 to a .75 hahaha. They’d stick out an inch on each side…

Well this guy got square 305’s in one haha

Maybe it’s doable? I’m gonna hold out hope. He did a fender flair on a straight fender 1998, I think rolling the new edge fender could give the space

This is a damn cool car.

Are those Rovos Durbans?

I ask because they don't have as much backspacing as other wheels and are most likely contributing to the poke you have. All though it's not that bad.

Something in a +22 or 25 offset would help out a little.

They’re a discontinued tsw Sochi. 18x9/10.

I got them because they looked like a hybrid of a stock wheel and a saleen, and they were very light (22/24lbs) and very cheap (all 4 from discount tire $1075 in 2019.)

Now they’re discontinued and not what I need. I haven’t wanted to do a nice expensive wheel because we get horrible road destruction/potholes etc up here so a spendy set of wheels is just throwing money away when the inevitable bent rim or scratched face happens from a 45-75mph heavy traffic (can’t swerve) or freeway pothole.

We’ll get some 4-6” deep crater potholes too so driving home late from work is a roll of the dice.

That said stupid is as stupid does. Our local track is decent and our drag strip is closed/demolished so I plan to go a little different route now and chase some of the handling/braking while keeping decent power for roll races.

Pretty sure that guy is running an 8 inch coilover spring upfront to allow for more backspacing as well as the flared fenders.

You definitely can't run that short of a spring on a full weight car and have it liveable on the street. Even 400lb springs aren't enough according to MM.

If you have an SLA it's much easier but that's $$$.

I've been down this road for some time trying to stuff a 10 inch rim up front.

What I find odd is NOBODY has capitalized on this and come out with a nice fender with more clearance.

On the 99-04 cars it wouldn't require much to cleat 10s.

Well, well, well…

I mention RuPaul in another thread and look who comes hoovering dick back.

The Kkklintoons finally let you out of their dungeon? Or did John J Garvey, attorney at law, get you sprung in exchange for it releasing the Kraken?

Asking for the money you owe the site. Which, you wouldn’t be using that money for this potential purchase, would ya?

Isn't this the guy that owes @Klaus or the site some $?

Like his step dad this bitch went out to grab a 6 pack and never came back.

Howdy, check out my spiffy og member tag.

I paid it in full times two.

The Clinton’s bailed me out and set me up with a migrant prepaid visa. I’ve been traveling so it helped me clear my debts.

I did the og4life $1000 upgrade.

$500? That’s wasn’t appropriate given the time. I did $1000 since I’d let this go so long and ultimately forgot about it.

It’s also weird that there isn’t just a usable f1 r3 in a front or rear width for our cars.

What’s funny with the sideshow that popped up is I already paid @SID297 $1000 and he seemed chill. Considering he owns the site, I’d leave it in his hands or ask him what he wants done.

If he asks me to leave I’d be fine though. It’s your guys hang out space, I'm not interested in noise and wasting time bickering on the internet.

So the next step is admitting the shit you were (probably still are) full of.

Then tell SVTP why you went into hiding like you were next on the Kkklintoon hit list.
