so.. i right now have 17s on the car with 245 45 17s...well.. whatever it stock.
I have a set of 18"x10s bullits sitting in my garage.
I'm looking to order tires tomorrow, however, i don't know what the tire size would be for an 18 inch rim while keeping the stock diameter.
Is it 245 40 18? or 245 45 18?
Also, i was thinking of putting 275s on the rear. would that equate to 275s 35 on the rear or 275s 40. I'm really clueless as to the correct size.
Thanks.

295/35/18 on the 18x10's that I hope are going on the rear
275/35/18 would be best on a 18x9 wheel, hopefully what you bought for the front.

NOOOOOOOO 275/35 for the front!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 245/40 is skinny!!!

Sorry man, 245 is as wide as i'll go for the front. they are the same as stock and seem fine to me. I'm more interested in knowing what the correct width is so i keep the same diameter all around and won't mess the speedo up. what about the rear? I really do not care about having the nicest widest stance ever. In fact, i could get 245s all around and be content. It'd get me from point A to point B which is all i want to do in this freaking rain since the tires i have on now are bald..:bash:
I went to the tirerack calculator site and it said to get 285s..:poke:

so.. all 4 of your rims are 18X9?.. if so you can fit 245 up front and 285 in the rear, you might even go up to 295's but they might look a bit weird. I think 275's might be a bit too much, i have 275's up front and although they look BADASS!!!! i tend to get sucked into every little pot hole or crack on the road. So you can do 245/40/18 and 285/35/18.

275/35/18 is the same diamater as a 245/45/17.....

Im telling you, 18x9's and 245/40's wont look good. Theirs no rim protection at all. stock width is 17x8, thats why they run 245's. step up to 275's since your new wheels are 9" wide.

If you go 245/40 you will be dissapointed.

+1

But if all you want to do is get from A to B, in the rain, maybe a Cobra isnt the right car for you.

I second that. An 18x9 will look very bad with a 245 on it. I have 275/35/18's on my 18x9 front rims and they fit perfectly.

I don't know if you want 245's to try to save some coin on tire expense but if that's the case then you really shouldn't be buying 18's in my opnion. Tires add up so fast. Also, you're going to be pissed if/when you accidentally come too close to a curb and scratch your new wheel because there was no tire there to offer protection.

I think you'd be making a mistake with the 245's, but if that's what you want to do...

Don't get 275's on the front. The front tires only need to be wide enough to cover the rim, and no more than that or the steering will feel washy. I know you just changed your order but try and get a 255 up front, thats all you need to cover the rim and 275's are pretty big for a 9".

I agree that 275s are too much for the front. For a street car, looks sometimes does trump performance; and of course, looks are totally subjective. But here's a pic (old one, but I still have these tires) just to show you a fairly narrow tire doesn't look too bad on the front imo. On my 8.5" wheel, I run 235s on the front...a good point was mentioned earlier, though...if you rub against a curb with 245s on a 9" wheel, your wheel will get curb rash (you just have to be careful)...

255's is all you need for the front. That's what I've run on my BBS wheels and it looks perfect.

ok.. the lady from tirerack called and said that they were not able to change the order at the warehouse because it had already left. I guess i'll just keep them.
I'm not afraid of curve rash.. i usually park a feet away from the sidewalk =P
thanks guys!

whoever says 275's are too much on a 9" wheel are ****tards. My 275/35 kumho ecsta MX's fit very nice. The car is very responsive and is no worse than the stock 245/45's when driving. BTW, 285's on a 10.5" wheel is retarded. I run 295/35's on my 18x10's and think they look skinny.

your not going to like the 245's......
