Tire size: Does it matter? Size.

I have a 94 SVT Cobra with stock Cobra wheels, and the original size tires. I have a Eibach lowering kit. Right now the tires I have (Firestone) do not have any traction, and I'd like to be able to drive my Mustang more, and safely. What brand, tread, and optional size can you go without changing the wheels? Also, besides the rotating issue, what is the downside of sizing up in the back a little? Okay, just asking. Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Stock wheels are only 17x8. The wheels that look best and allow running a 295 305 or 315 rear tire will be 10" or 11" wide wheel. For the stock wheels I would use a 275 40 17. The nitto 555 tires work, are good value, and look as good as any others. These cars look great lowered on stock wheels, but if you ever had wider rear wheels it would be hard to go back. Should not be any downside to running a 275 width tire over a stock size 245.
