I ran a 315 on a 17x9 but that was a 40 side wall. I think it will go on. Make sure your alignment and tire pressures a perfect to ensure a descent tire wear.

When I bought my BFG DR's for my 9.5" rim, I went with the 275 because BFG recommended not going with the 295. I am sure you will be able to mount the tire on the rim, but it is going to pull the sides of the tread away from the road. With DR's, you really want the whole tread on the road. The 275 isn't on back order either.

Go with the same size if that's what you want. I realize there may be a difference in size between the 295 BFG and the 295 MT, but I am sure it is Very minor.

I went with mt's et streets 26x11.5r17's on my 17x8 rims. Only use them for drag racing. You'd only get 1000 miles on them, if that!!!
26x11.5r17's equal 275/40r17

On stock 01 rims? 265 or 275 at most with the stock 17x8. The 275 would prob. bulge out a little. I'd go with 255 or 265 with a 1" spacer at the rear for a good look though. I'd stick to the stock or close to stock specks in front.
