I thought you guys were getting bored so I know another wheel and tire thread would put smiles on your faces.

Anyways, I'm getting bored of my stock rims and thought I'd get crazy and move up to 18's. I want to get Y2k Cobra R's (how original right?) and Nitto 555zr's. I'm not the most well informed on wheels and tires. I don't have definite sizes, maybe
255 or 265/35 up front and 285 or 295/35 in the rear and I get those numbers just from running a search on this site.

Give me your suggestions and recommendations. Also You think I should use spacers for the rear? 1/4" or 1"???

P.S. I do have Steeda Springs so the car is lowered.

I use 295-35 in the rear and 275-35 in the front. Personally I can't stand having my rims stick out further than the tires. This is not a BMW, but a fat muscle car. Y2K cobra r's are 9.5" rims so I don't know what the recommend rim width is for a 255/265 tire, but my 275 just barely fit.

I don't need no sticking spacer.

If I remember correctly, the 00 R ran 285s all the way around. I run 275/35/18 up front on 9" wide rims and 295/35/18 on 10.5" rims in the back (315s next time). I would hold off on the spacers until you get the wheels on the car. You can always figure out how much farther out you want it to be.

The 00R had 265-40's all the way around.

I would rather have a 9" in the front and 10.5" on the rear like you. Especially deep dish. Yummy!!! I want those SSR GT3's so bad.

I have the Cobra R 18x9.5 wheels. I'm running 265/35's up front....a 275/35 would be a better fit, that's what I use to have on the rears. I now have 295/35 BFG DR's out back and they look awesome.

275/35 up front and and 295/35 out back seems to be the general concensus.

Do you guys know a good place to purchase Chrome y2k's?
Every place online only has 18x9's. I can't find 18 x10.5.
I think I will probably go with that combo. 9's up front and 10.5's in the back.

I didn't know they made the y2k r's in a 9 for the front and 10.5 for the rears.

Heres the way I understand it. The real y2k r's are all 9.5" The knock offs are 9". At least that's what I've seen.

i agree about the sizes on the front....
i have 255's on my 9" wide wheels in front, and they just barely fit....285's out back, and they bulge just a tad....

I went ahead and just did 275/35's all around on 18's. I liked the idea of being able to rotate the tires for at least a little better tire wear. That way you get twice the burn-out for the money!

That sounds like a good idea.

What rim size, 9.5s?

Yes, I believe so. The AFS 03 replicas. When I had stock rims, I had 1" wheel spacers. With these new ones, they fill out the wheel well just perfectly.
