Installing a new offroad h-pipe soon and the included hardware are Grade 8 steel bolts. I was thinking about running up to the hardware store and purchasing stainless hardware. Is there a reason as to why stainless steel shouldn't be used to bolt the new h pipe to the headers.

I know stainless isn't as strong and grade 8 is the strongest, but are grade 8 bolts really needed in this application? Thanks!

It won't matter for the exhaust, I used stainless. Just so you know 3 radial lines on the head is grade 5, 6 lines is grade 8 if it's metric it will say 8.8, 10.9 or 12.9

Grade 8 is overkill on the exhaust, stainless is nice because it will be easy to get off later, no rusting. I've also got some zinc coated bolts from work and they work good, no rust.
