Got my imrc;s upper manifold off car for cleaning,
next project is stage two clutch, i can see the top two bolts
with the top manifold off, nice easy access to bolts.
But i cant get them loose, i been soaking form the tap thru side
for two days now, no luck, any idea;s how to break them loose?

Like the gentleman said above, use a breaker bar or something to get you as much leverage as possible.

Comes down to it use a torch and heat the block, the aluminum will expand long before the steel bolt it will practically fall out lol

here's what i did, and it was easy.
  1. undo crossmember bolts at frame
  2. let it down with a jack under said crossmember
  3. get a LOONG extension and a good swivel
  4. get a breaker bar
  5. put it all together and break them loose

I completely removed the 2 top bolts. Then I put the crossmember back up. Then broke every other bolt free and worked from there. I had it out in less then 4 hours working at my usual, super slow pace. The starter bolts gave me the most crap though.

Oh wow, didnt realize you were from around here. Let me know, ill bring my tools!

HAHA and i didnt read the whole thread either. My offer still stands on anything else you may need help with

for future reference- hitting the two bolts from under the car with an impact gun, extentions and swivels will make this a much faster/simpler job.

I opened this thread to give this exact response.

For the starter bolt.. if you get the perfect size wrench.. you can remove the top bolt with JUST that, there is a nice little access hole/slot in the stock k-member to use.

Right on dude! this is how I do 90% of my trans jobs.

Never thought of that for the starter. I ended up with an extension and a swivel there, which worked fine for me!

Dont forget the two bolts for the flex plate!

I cant tell you how many times my dumbass keeps trying to yank off the transmission with that still bolted on and wonder WTF is happening.
