Howdy,

I went to the track this weekend after finally getting my car to run right (bad ECT sensor was making it run like s**t) but anyways, i'm terribly dissapointed by 15.0's at 95 mph. It really wasn't good track conditions (high humidity and pressure) and most cars were running about 4 mph less. I was really expecting 98 to 99 mph trap speeds, which might be possible on a good night, but i really didn't expect conditions to plague performance like this. The car is stock save for mufflers and a shifter. What kind of times have other people averaged pretty much stock? And also any tips on launching are greatly appreciated, it either bogs or spins everytime, it's unbelievable, in ever had trouble pulling 2.0 60' in my earlier model mustangs, sorry this is so long, i'm venting my frustration a little bit, thanks in advance for responses.

My 94 Cobra Indy Pace convertible ran a 14.7 @ 97 MPH . Pulled a best of 2.25 60' times. This was done on bald street tires and 80 degree, 90% humidity and a heavy a$$ convertible. Only mods were FMS shorty headers, Bassani X with cats and pullies. Traction was a problem with me. Launched at 2500 rpm and spun thru 2nd gear. Laundhed @ 2000 still spun. Drag radials would benifit 5.0's due to the torque they generate. Couldn't get the launch right.

I ran <yawn> 14.50's & 14.60's @ 96 & 97mph stock. The funny thing is I had 2.2's and 2.1's for 60' times, mainly 2.1's. I think I managed to get a 2.09 or something with stock suspension & tires.
The kicker... I now have upper control arms, SSM's, and Nitto's and have gotten a best of..... &lt;drum roll please&gt; a 2.001 !!! I was pissed that I the damn car couldn't give me at lest a 1.99. In the cars defense, I do seem to be launch challenged. Hard for me to get it the clutch slipped instead of dumped and manage a descent RT.<IMG SRC="http://www.svtperformance.com/ubb/smilies/cwm31.gif" border=0>

Man I can feel you there. I know it is hard to launch these SN-95 cars. That extra weight does hurt us there. It is just gonna take practice abusing the clutch a little to get you short times down. In my 96 I was riding the clutch for about 30 ft trying to keep the RPM's up and not spinn at the same time. Best 60 ft time I got was like 2.08. At any rate you just got started with it. Just practice some different launching types at the track and see what works better. Best of luck!

I've personally run a best of 14.0 @ 98.2 in the st. louis sun. I have stock headers, mac off road powerchamber h-pipe and mac cat back system with 2 chamber mufflers all 2 1/2 in. I have 3:73 gears (4:10's to go in soon)<IMG SRC="http://www.svtperformance.com/ubb/smilies/cwm4.gif" border=0> and timing bumped to about 15 degrees. My 60' times have been in about the 2.1's consistantly because I have thos damn stock tires. I plan on getting some nitto's soon. Those REALLY big ones. Hope that this helps ya. <IMG SRC="http://www.svtperformance.com/ubb/smilies/cwm11.gif" border=0>

My 94 with h-pipe, flowmasters, 3.73's, MSD, ProM77 and PIH ran [email protected] on every day street tires, but my 60' was 1.88 with the stock suspension.
Before the gears, ProM77 and PIH it ran 14.00@100 and a 60' of 2.2, 2.3 with track temp of 105 degrees.

Damn some of you guys most have ran at sea level in some pretty good tracks. My stock Cobra with a catted basanni xpipe went 14.71@96 with a 2.20 60ft I ran in the middle of the day when the weather was at about 95degrees if not more in Fontana,CA. Although my best 1/8th mile at a diffrent track was 9.24@76 which would equal to a 14.30 1/4....good times guys!

old thread....but i ran a 14.0 with o\r h pipe drag radial and dumps and cnl intake. prolly could have pulled off a better time if i would have waited till i put a clutch in but i wasnt too worried, 13.9 or 14.0 both are slow.
