Looking for input on the gear options with the Magnum. The jist of my combo is a built 0.020" over 4.6L with cogged F1A, frount mount with ported NA Cobra intake and 4.10 rear gear. I'd really like to get the 0.50 6th gear, but the associated 2.97 1st gear is likely too much before my rear gear.

2.97, 2.10, 1.46, 1.00, .74, .50
or
2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00 .80, .63

With 4.10s your best bet is the Viper set of gears.

The Viper set is not offered in the Magnum unless they will do a custom setup. Is that possible without costing an arm and a leg?

From looking around the gear set alone for the 74 and 50 gears is around the 300-400 dollar mark and can be switched out.

Call Liberty and D&D and see what they say about it. They should offer viper gear sets and could point you into the right direction as far as what you need to get your gears setup.

I'll check into it. If they don't offer it straight from their shop with a warranty, I'll just stick with one of the offered sets. The gears will need to be the same design as what is already in the Magnum, which I believe is stronger than the Viper set with a different tooth angle.

Ive talked to both D&D and Liberty and it can be done in a T56 just not a magnum. It is different gear sets. But instead of using the viper output shaft you can use the Astin Martin one. But I would say use the traditional T-56 gearing and switch out the rear gear to 3.55s or 3.73s.

The regular T56 gear set works great with the 4.10 and I just installed them. I just wish I could have the 0.50 6th gear for the interstate. I heard from another magnum owner running the 2.97 1st gear with a D1SC and 3.73 rear gear. He loves it and plans to swap in 4.10 rears. Might be making less power, though.

I have the DD T56 conversion and could not be happier with the transmission. It shifts way better than both of my Cobras (03-04). I say get the transmission with the best reputation for durability and performance and just swap your rear ring and pinion to suit your needs. Getting your gears swapped is cheap.

Why don't you just swap in the viper 5th and 6th gears. I ran these exact gears for years on the road course. I only changed back to the stock gears in the tranny and rear-end because i have improved the handling on my car. The hp has increases to 540 and the stock gearing is suited to most of the tracks better. The top speed in 5th with the viper 5th gear/4.10's is almost the same as the stock gears .80/3.55 at around 160mph.

I do have a set of viper gears for sale:-D

Because I'm installing the Magnum. The gear sets are different and it appears by various reports that they currently offer only the (2) gear sets outlined above. Only way to swap to the Viper 5/6 is to stay with the standard T56.

I did the calculations for speed in gears. I used the viper gears for the t56 as a comparison. It seems like the gears would be good for a big turbo car but for a car with a blower it would be to quick thru the lower gears, the gears in the stock t56 are more evenly spaced. The speed difference between 3rd and 4th is much better with the stock tranny at 28mph compared to 38mph. Rpms are figured at 6500.

2.97 41
2.10 57
1.46 83
1.00 121
.74 161
.50 2.42

2.66 46
1.78 68
1.30 93
1.00 121
.74 161
.50 242
