When I bought my 97 this spring, it already had an or x-pipe and flowmaster mufflers (unknown series). Thing is, I never have liked the sound of an x-pipe with the raspy, higher pitch exhaust note. I love the deep sound from the h-pipe.
With that said, the x sounds pretty good until around 2700 rpm. If I could describe the sound, it would sound like a trumpet (may not be the right analogy to use). Everything below 2700 sounds nice and deep. Needless to say, I hate the "trumpet" sound.
Is there a muffler I can buy to replace the flows to get a deeper sound through out the rpm range; keeping the x-pipe; or am I SOL and need to buy an h-pipe?
