Sup dudes......My buddy is getting per cap from the Indian Rez Casinos out here in SoCal so he is consistantly getting $6000+ a month.

He has a couple cars, but he has a 2000 Toyota Tacoma 2 wheel drive and a couple weeks ago he met a dude with a Twin Turbo Supra (97, I think) With close to 450HP and now hes all pumped about it. What he wants to do is rip out his 4 Cylinder and Tranny (with only 25k on the motor) and drop in a Stock Twin Turbo Supra Motor from a wrecked supra or possibly a used one from JDM. Weve already found some motors with trannys for around 4-5k.

Now, this is HIS project, and I dont know enough about Jap cars to even begin to know what to do, or what to buy to prep his truck. He is going to have a buddy of his who is a mechanic help with the swap, but he is hard to get ahold of. So on is behalf, Im here asking you guys what he is going to need to complete the swap besides the Motor and Tranny. What kind of ECU is he looking at using, some type of custom? And what else is he going to need?

His truck is gonna be a sleeper

And also, let me say, Im with you guys....its kind of outrageous....be he has the $$$

He would be wiser to swap in the Tacoma for the V6 version and add TRD parts. S/C exhaust etc. Not as quick but nicer reliable and warantied. IMHO!

To some degree the power of a supra motor may not jive with the trucks rear end. However I dont know that much about 2wd tacomas, or toyotas?

it's like someone putting a cobra engine in a ranger...

Actually, Coletti put a Lightning motor in a Ranger...

Back to topic. Why? Why doesn't he do something a little different, like take a Celica or Scion tC and put the Supra motor in htat, or drop a 5.0 in a Miata, etc...

You have to wait something like a month to register at supraforums.

He would definitely need a standalone ecu. I would think that the only thing you can do with that is drag race it, so tell him to get a GM TH400 tranny conversion for a Supra and dump that into the truck. Then stick a big single turbo on it. It will probably reduce the number of vacuum lines and other shit on there stock, hopefully make the install a little easier.

A guy in Couer d' Alene sent his 4runner to Florida to have this exact same thing done.

8 months, 2 engines, $100k, and a total of 1hr. of track time later, it still doesn't run right.
