You will have to excuse my giddyness...Im still shocked over the events of today. First a little back story....

Past month I've been struggling to keep work going. Lots of lay offs and not many people hiring. I finally found a job that sucked...but paid the bills.

Yesterday I recieved a call from a guy I worked with at a company prior to being laid off. He wanted me to come in and talk with him about a position at his company...I thought it odd he would call me, but I wasn't complaining.

Today my supervisor at my current place of employment shows up late to work, along with the rest of the crew he has. I was waiting outside for a while not knowing whats going on. I made a gutsy decision to quit on the spot and go talk about this position with the guy that called yesterday.

Needless to say, I made the right choice. I just literally doubled my income starting Monday. Not trying to brag, I just had to tell someone!

lol its not that big of a deal if you only made $2 to begin with =P But seriously congrats. Ive found it takes balls of steel and a leap of faith sometimes to get something better. Change is hardley ever easy and usually the best things dont come without sacrifice. ect ect ect.

I've had quite a few employee's pull this card on me. I just let them go. Kudos to you though, shows one of two things. A - You are very valuable to them. B - They got you in cheap to begin with.

Congrats.

People are still hiring, it just depends on what field you're in and who you work for. I just got a promotion 2 weeks ago. I am IT specialist now for the Virginia Mega Projects, Alexandria office (150+ users). I will be here for at least 5 - 8 years.

Yea op you have balls. I was taught not to leave a job until I have one waiting on me. I don't think I could of done that unless I knew I would be starting somewhere else next week with a pay raise.
