As soon as it warms up I'm thinking about putting a different set of gears in the rear end of my 99 Cobra. I was wondering what people thought about 3.73 versus 4.10. I want to wake up the cobra on the low end but at the same time I don't want to be running 3K RPM going 75. Does anyone already of a set installed on their Cobra?

Thanks in advance for your time:beer:

Wow, were you in 4 or 5 gear? LOL. Looks like I better stick with 3.73. Will I feel a enourmous difference between stock and 3.73?

Not sure whats up with that (REALLY inaccurate tach??), but 4.10s will put you at 2750rpms at 75, and right at 3k at 80. 3.73s will put you at 2500rpms at 75, and 2700 at 80.

ahhhh, much better! I was hoping to put gears in the rear end, but if 3.73s would put me at 3.1K RPM I would of passed.

Any other comments?

Yep, there is. I have had 4.10/4.30/4.56 gears in my car. Get the 4.10s. I am a drag racer, so I have the 4.56 now. But I had 4.10s in mine for a year or so and loved them. Some folks that have done 3.73 regretted not getting 4.10s. I don't hear anyone with 4.10s wishing they had gone with a 3.73.

Ditto.

I went through the same struggle -- get the 4.10s, it's not a mistake. After driving on them for about two weeks, you will forget all about your 3.27s (i.e., where the RPMS "used to be", how oftern you "used to shift", etc.) The 4.10s provide kick ass accelleration, gets the RPMs quickly up to where your car wants them to be -- the power band -- and it's not bad at all on the highway (RPMs) or city (shifting) for that matter.

Good luck!

Just put in 4:10's last week. Like I said in an earlier jubilous post, the 4:10's are unbelievable. Last night, I was cruising along and decided to punch it in second. This used to be an experience of waiting for the car to get into the power band. Now, its like the torque is there right now. I was sideways before I knew it. It truly rules. Plan ahead for the speedometer change, which I hope to get done this week.
