Picked the Cobra up today after having the Viper 5th and 6th gears installed and all I can say is my math was right on. Cruising down the interstate now at 75mph is 1,750 rpms. Finally a real overdrive gear for trips.
5th gear at 2,000 rpm is 60 mph and 2,250 rpm is 70 mph. So now I can use 5th gear like I used to have to use 6th gear for - mid-town driving.
Local Ford dealership did the install and dinged me for $240 on labor. I thought that was more than reasonable. Bought all the parts from D&D Performance. They were $600 for the drive and driven gears for the two gears.
I think these gears would be too much for a stock 03 Cobra engine, but anyone with a KB should consider it - depending on your driving situation.
