First time at the track in 6 years. Last time I ran an auto Taurus SHO so this was a whole new world. The 340 treadware bridgestones were garbage in the cool weather.

Lets just say I learned a lot.

-I need a tire
-I need diff brace
-Either I boost car next spring, or I take the 3.73 out and put in a 4.30 cause I am loosing my ass in 1st.
-IRS sucks

-IRS really sucks

Temp was 50F with North winds.

My best was a 13.512 @ 103.38. 2.142 60ft
My best mph was a 104.13.

The biggest killer is with the 3.73 and 04 Cobra T56 is I can either choose to run 3rd out to redline which yielded my worst times of the night or shift into 4th a tad bit before the traps which also sucks but yielded a better time.

I was either bogging, spinning, or launching nice and then hopping.

I did manage to outrun a Challenger SRT-8 6 speed on my best run of the night. He trapped 108 however.

T56,,,,You should just put the 4.56 in there. Everyone I have spoke to says 4.30's are not enough with a T-56.

I plan on boosting next season so I think the setup I have will be fine for it. Just sucks for N/A.

So I will officially admit I am a victim of fearing the gear.

3650 = 4.30s

Yeah the t56 works great on the street because traction isn't the best. Great for DD'ing as well. But at the strip the long 1st gear dominates you.

Get the chin. Steve at tousley ford. Shipped to my door in a full size box.

When I was working on my buddy's 01 Cobra, I test drove it a few times.

He has a T56 with 4.56's.

One thing I noticed is that his 1st gear is pretty similar to my 1st gear on my T45 with 3.55's.

I dunno what that tells ya, but if you have 3.73's with a T56, then your 1st gear is way too long and will not get you into the good hp/tq range soon enough.

With our motors, you have to get to 4200rpms in order to see the benefit, and shifting into 4th at redline will be too late because the hp and tq are already dropping off by 6200rpms and you've already stopped pulling by then.

On stock IRS with Drag Radials and 4-5K launch...1.72 60's all day with stock 3.27s for me when I had that setup with 0 suspension mods...

I have 4.10s now and im already in 4th gear before the 1.8th (Vortech SC'd)....on a 5 speed setup then again I make constant power even up to 7K never drops off so boosted I will be through gears a bit quicker...Idk how 4.56s will do with the T56 but Idk if I would go that high...shift into 5th by the 1/4 FTL

Glad to see you get out and use the car. Couple of thoughts:

- The complaint on the long 1st gear of the T56. Another reason why I don't recommend it.
- Shift at redline
- Don't hate on the IRS. Learn to drive it. There is a very fine line and you will be a better launcher when you learn the sweet spot. You will also love that IRS when you grow up and start running road courses with the fast drivers. :)
