What is the largest tire I can fit under a 2004-2008 F150 with a 20x9 rim.

I have a 04 2wd. I have 20x9 rims on it now 275/60/20s. It had 305/40/22s under it before and I still had a lot of room. I am wanting a set of 35/12.5/20s, but I am worried about it not working. I cant seem to figure it out online. I have tried to configure it, and it isnt working. 285/45/20 is apparently the biggest size that will fit, which is wrong.

I have 285/70/17's on my 06 2wd with a 3" level and had to trim a little bit my rims have a -12 offset. If you want 35x12'5 you definitely need at least a level and maybe even a body lift on top of the level depending on the offset of the rim

It could be anything from +30mm to +18mm to +0mm. Im not sure. which one is on my truck. What about a 33" tire? Thats what size is on my grandpas wrangler, but he has a lift too.

I'm thinking you can fit 35's in the fenders with a leveling kit. Not sure if you'd need more backspacing or not.

Thats what I have and needed the level, levels are cheap and not to hard to put on

I found one for 150.00 looks brand new as well. Im sure my buddy and I could do it. I looked at stock height jeep and he had 33/12.5/17 on his and they fit just barely.

4x4's are around 1" higher from the factory than a 2wd

I don't have any 1 on 1 experience but I've read where some guys have issues running anything more than the 2.5" Level in the front I can tell ya that my 2.5" puts quite an angle on the cv and ball joints....That being said (knock on wood) I've put about 65k miles on my truck since the level kit and it has been issue free....I don't know if theyre is an extreme difference with the 3" or not. I do know it was PIA to compress it all when installing it iirc....lol.....good luck and this site here has a lot of knowledgeable guys that help me out with different things all the time!

I think its just 4x4's that have that problem since they are 1" higher than 2wd's, a 3" level on a 2wd is equivalent to a 2" on a 4x4

I have already replaced all of my front end parts. They went at about 140k.
