It needs me as the owner........that's what it needs :burnout:

Seriously, weight reduction would be good but i'm sure Ford will make sure it's faster than the 03/04, if fact I believe they claimed it will be. Still will have tons of potential

Of course it will be faster than the 03/4 (in the hands of someone that can drive). Even with 100-200 more pounds you are getting alot more power and better equipment for launching (solid axle, assuming faster means acceleration). Each time they change the mustang it gets faster, why would this one be different?

to stay the way it is. I hate is when they change the design. I hope it does not look like the front v6 or gt. all i want is a good mean design without any changed from the proto type.

have they announced weight yet? I heard 3400 but i dont believe that. The car probably will weigh alot but its not definite so we shouldnt be saying its to heavy already. Give ford alittle credit maybe theyll do it right.

I agree. If it doesn't, I don't think it will be that much faster then an 03-04

Put the pipe down. How many stock 03/04s have run high 11s @ 120+ out the showroom door? :nonono:

First of all there have been NO times yet for a GT500. Second I never said that the 03-04 is faster. I said that the 03-04 will probably not be that much slower. Kinda like the C5 corvette is not that much slower than a C6. Now a 01 cobra is alot slower than a 03-04 cobra. A properly driven 03-04 can hit mid 12's. Add a pulley and you hitting low 12's. For the price difference between the 06-07 and what the 03-04 will be at the time of 06-7 production, I feel that the 03-04 will be a much better buy.

I agree....why do I get the feeling they're going to do what they did with the Mustang concept to the production GT :xpl:

Rest assured the car will run high 11s @ 120+ in the hands of a competent driver. As soon as basic bolt ons (like pulleys, full exhaust, CAI) find their way onto GT500s, the 03/04s won't have a prayer of keeping up.

Given 450 vs. 390 hp at the same weight! = 6/ths and 6 mph= 12.40/12.50 range at 114mph about the same as the 01 Z06 vette ran stock!! :burnout:

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree ;-) No way it runs 11's @120, especially with the tires that they have on it now. I will believe low 12's @ 115-117. It's probably realistically going to weigh 3700# and if it has 275's or less on the back, not a chance.

I thikn the 03-04 will be a way better buy than the new cobra. Theres not many people with stock cobras. All you need is basic bolt ons and you will be going right by any 06 cobra. For ALOt LESS.

It may not run 11's due to limited traction, but I think your traps are on the low end. I believe that this car will be capable of 120+ traps, as the 450hp+ rating is a joke. I guess it really depends on how much Ford decides to choke up this car from the factory.

C6
hp = 400
weight = 3100
#/hp = 7.75 (less is better)
1/4 mile = mid-high 12's @ ~114

Viper SRT10:
hp=500
weight=3380
#/hp = 6.76
1/4 mile: high 11's @ ~123

GT500
hp=450-500
weight = 3600 (we'll be optimistic)
#/hp = 8-7.20
1/4 mile estimate: same or maybe a little better than a C6

Based on the power to weight ratios, I think it's very unlikely that we'll see high 11's and trap speeds in the 120's. The most optimistic will be low to mid 12's at 114-118 mph.

The price argument is a weak one. I bought my car for $12k. Does that mean If spent $10k on a built motor and blower and spanked a stock 03/4 ($22k vs. $35k) that my car would be a better buy? If so why not buy a mustang II for a couple hundred bucks, spend $10k on a blown 351 and crush most anything on the streets?

I respectfully disagree with your disagreement :-D No point in arguing it now, time will tell. I'm not saying everyone can hit 11s, but the traps will be up there without question. There are afterall 03/04 Cobra 'verts with a like amount of power that trap 120+ quite easily.

That's assuming that the Shelby will have 450+ at the tire and weigh something similar. I haven't seen verts or coupes trapping 120 with anything less than 450-475rwhp and like torque. Time will certainly tell.
