If it's sub 5k, you'd be stupid to not buy it.
I'd say 6k tops. Regardless, it's still 170k mile foxbody.
I had a 92 notch that I bought in 08-09. I sold it after about 18 months, it was to nice and I wanted a faster car.
It was medium titanium metallic, factory non ac, 5 spd, with 38k miles. I sold it for about what I paid which was 10.5k.

That's a good looking car. Not pretentious or anything, just right. Did they always have such a decent gap between between the tire and the panel?
First off are you considering buying this to turn it? If that's the case will that create hard feelings between you and the future father in law? If he's cutting you a deal because of the relationship he may not appreciate you turning around and selling for a profit. That's really here nor there but just my thoughts.
Putting a number on that car is pretty much a shot in the dark. Fox body cars right now are through the roof. Yes this is a nice original car but its also got 175k miles on it. That mileage would probably make this car a great base for a drive train swap because a stock rebuild value would suffer from the mileage.
I've been watching Fox body cars lately and am just shocked at the values. I've been watching mostly the low mileage cars. Over the last few months I've seen a 93' Teal Cobra with 1,900 miles sell for $50,900, an 11,000 mile Teal Cobra sell for $39,000, a 1,900 mile Red 93' Cobra sell for $40,150 and an under 10,000 mile red 93' Mustang GT sell for $22,500 at Manheim dealer auction.
So the low mileage cars are doing crazy money.
I would venture to guess this car would probably bring $8k range
It's worth $5-7k and if you waited for the right buyer with a good detail and advertised it $8k maybe a little more. As someone who grew up in that generation we value originality over a modability. And yes, '87-'88 were SD cars, but at this point it doesn't matter too much in value. People that want to go fast have started to look past the Fox and buy Coyotes.
I'll give you $5,000 tomorrow night if you want to make a quick profit. I'll leave PA tonight with my trailer.
Not looking to immediately turn it. I will keep it for a while at least. I would just like to know if the car is appreciating or not. Sounds like I need to go ahead and scoop it up.
FYI I bet the car sold for under 10K new, I bought a new GT in 87 for 11.7
I sold mine with 70K for 3500 in 1997
If you don't plan to keep it then I wouldn't mod it. Maybe do a light restoration and enjoy it.Not looking to immediately turn it. I will keep it for a while at least. I would just like to know if the car is appreciating or not. Sounds like I need to go ahead and scoop it up.
Modded foxes are a freaking blast. I'm putting out around 500rwhp in my 93 Cobra and I'm giddy like a school girl every time I mash the go pedalmy uncle offered me his fox for 5 grand ....I should have ****ing bought it ....it was slow but only had 100k miles....I would love to have one, build the motor for twin turbos
I recently ran across an older guy that had a 93' teal Cobra that he bought new. Car only had 15,XXX miles on it. I say "had" because I bought it. : )
I've decided I'm going to get it and leave it unmodded. Detail it when I have time and see where I'm at on it in a year or so. Be fun to mod it since its so slow, LoL but there is something cool about having literally the ONLY all stock one anywhere close to here. You just do not see cars like this anymore.
Now pass it on to your children.View attachment 1517602
Brought it home yesterday. The car is cleaner than I remember.. So clean... He explained that his dad bought the car for him new (I have the window sticker and a few other goodies) in February '87 and transferred the title to him when he finished college, so he is the one and only owner/driver. Car has never been raced or modified in ANY way other than what was needed for maintenance (and the flowmaster mufflers). This pic doesnt do it justice.. Oh, it has been painted but never in a wreck of any kind. Cool car and Im glad I could scoop it up.
