Are all the supposed American magazines prejudice against American cars?

Consumer Reports includes its top picks in the April 2003 issue. The selected vehicles were tested for emergency handling, acceleration, braking, fuel economy, comfort, convenience and more.

The top picks are:

Best Car Tested BMW 530i
Most Fun to Drive Subaru WRX
Family Sedan Honda Accord (4-cylinder)
Volkswagen Passat (6-cylinder)
Small Car Honda Civic EX
Driving Green Honda Civic Hybrid
Affordable Versatility Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix
Small Sport-Utility Vehicle Toyota RAV4
Midsize Sport-Utility Vehicle Honda Pilot
Pickup Truck Chevrolet Avalanche
Minivan Honda Odyssey

Well the criteria don't seem to be: Baddest production muscle car ever built for under $40,000.00.

Had they been, I'm sure the outcome would be slightly different.

Sometimes you guys worry too much about what a magazine designed to pander to the middle ground, common man, thinks about an extreme muscle car.

1. SVT is not considered a standard car, nor are Mseries BMWs, Zseries vettes, etc.

2. most magazines want money from Mfg's in order to have thier cars considered for such tests.

3. GM, Ford and Chrysler are all working on Profit, not gimicks...

4. The avalanche is butt - Asstek ugly ( so is the Pontiac Asstek) which I am suprised didn't make this pansies list.

5. remember that these tests are the opinions of the editorial staff of the rag they are printed by.

6. where is the Porsche 911? or a Ferrari? Lincoln? Cadillac? Viper? SVT Lightning?

7. My list would be:

Best car: Porsche 911
Most fun: Viper
Family Sedan: Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 4 door (6 cyl.);
BMW 745 ( 8 cyl) ; no entry for 4 cly.
small car: Porsche Boxter S/ BMW Z4 (tie)
Driving Green: aisiac's gel-DS Verdicts (size 11)
Affordable: Volkswagen Beetle Convertable
Small Sport- Utility (that new jeep thing)
Midsize Sport - Utility - Ford Explorer
Full Size Sport - Utility - Hummer H2
Pickup - Ford F-250 ext cab.
Minivan - Pontiac Montana ext.
Muscle Car - SVT Mustang Cobra
Sports Car - Ferrari
Reasonable Sports Car - Porsche 911

See, its just my opinion. It all starts and ends with the 911.

peace.
