Happy Rainy May (from the Northeast) SVTP. This past weekend I was down in CT spending some time with Nick (DSGWhippedSnake) as he was helping me repaint my Saleens. I took the time to do them 2 years ago with a rattle can and needless to say, they weren't holding up any longer. The paint was flaking off some of the edges and I was never really happy with the color/finish anyways.
Nick lent me a HUGE hand in redoing this. I decided to go all out since I have no interest in refinishing a set of Saleens for the 3rd time, so we hit up the local paint supply store and got some good PPG automotive paint. I actually had the color matched to his set of OEM 10th Anniversary wheels as I was seeking something a bit brighter and I wanted glossssssssss.
Time to say goodbye to the flaking spray bombed wheels!
To avoid overspray on the car, we threw Nick's stock 10th wheels on the car.
Since we dismounted the tires, I also decided to replace the front tires. The BFG KDW's had seen their test of time. They were dry rotting and I did not feel comfortable doing highway pulls on old dried out tires. So I picked up a fresh set of 265/35 Nitto Invo's, had the tires remounted, balanced and then broke the bead again to help make the masking process easier.
Painted and cleared!
Once they dried, we popped the bead, threw in the center caps and installed them back on the car. Of course, had to do a mandatory mooch pics shoot once it was ready to go.
And some shots of Nicks Silver 10th as well. His car has a custom matte textured red powder coated 2.9L Whipple.
Oh yea, and some videos of Nick's car from the next night
