Why hasn't a production spec GT 500 been released to the magazine's for testing yet? If the order banks are going to open in March, this info should already be out. Who would order a 40+K car without a clue of it's performance?

they are still in the process of testing it. its that simple. then they have to pass all of the legistics to make it street legal(carb testing, crash testing, will it recieve the gas guzzler tax), and figure out if they need to make any last minute changes. you will not see production versions of the car for a while still.
i would expect to see the mags get the car end of may first of june if ford is still planning delivery to start in july.

Did the mags test the 03 before it came out in May or June of 02?

we saw articles with projected numbers before then just like we have seen them for the gt500. the first true road test came out in the may and june 2002 magazines for 2003 mustang svt.
