Just thought I would share as I haven't seen many other direct comparisons out there on this. I swapped my Gen 2 standard inlet Whipple 2.9 for the newest Gen 5 Whipple 3.0. THIS WAS THE ONLY CHANGE TO THE CAR. Everything else was the same, down to the my tuner and his shop which has the same Dyno from when we last re-tuned my 2.9.

Below results are on pump gas

Dyno date 05/18/2020
Whipple 2.9 peaking 18.5 PSI - 587WHP

Dyno date 03/01/2022
Whipple 3.0 peaking at 17.5 PSI - 681WHP.

E85 results will come soon, on E it is dropping fuel pressure above 6000 RPM so I will need to address that and we will press on with Dyno and more boost. I knew there was gonna be a difference but I'm rather shocked that it picked up almost 100HP from only changing the blower. Literally nothing else has changed on the car between the 2 above Dyno results.

Very nice A-B comparison.
3.0 on a pound less boost too.
That improvement should significantly increase if the boost rises.
What pumps and how many years in the tank with E85?

It should do very well and am excited to see what full E85 will do. Ethanol content sensor was reading E60 and made 730 at 6200 before lifting due to fuel pressure drop. This is still only at 17.5 PSI I imagine should see 760 or so on a full E85 pull.

Pumps are literally brand new dual 450s. I was having a similar fuel pressure drop issue so I replaced the pumps and apparently still have issues. Even threw a new Fore pressure regulator on it with the pumps just because.

Must’ve had to pulley way up for that low of boost? Is that like a 3.75” pulley on the 3.0?

Correct. 3.75 pulley

What elevation? Unless you’re up there, I’m still surprised you only saw 17.5psi

Still have a Gen2 on my car with a 3.0 on the way.

Mine made 15psi on a 3.75 at sea level. What pulley was the Gen2 on for 18?

You have on OR x/H or cats?

I'm in Phoenix, AZ so elevation is about 1200. Boost starts at 16 and creeps to 17.5 by 7500 RPM.

My 2.9 was on a 3.5 to see 18.5 PSI. Kooks long tubes to OR x-pipe, no cats.

Thats really impressive. I wonder if the Magnuson 3.0 will out perform the Whipple 3.0. Probably close im betting if its ever released smh.

I was entertaining the Whipple 3.0 for my Trackhawk but they said it was like a 6-8 month wait so I opted for the 2650. Its just my DD tho.

Thats incredible tho a 100 hp improvement with less boost. Win-win. Cant wait to see the E85 numbers.

Do u have E85 numbers for the 2.9? Im betting that blower is way more efficient at higher boost levels. Bet u pick up 150 hp over the 2.9 on E85 which is insane.

Damn, that is a crazy wait. They told me 6-8 weeks when I ordered mine and then it showed up like 2 weeks later.

I can't wait to see what E85 does too. On the 2.9 with E85 it made 694 at 18.5 PSI and 724 at 20 PSI. I imagine the 3.0 will be around 800 at 20 PSI and I plan to run 25+ eventually which I hope will be 900 would be cool to see.

Fuel pressure issue is from failing alternator. Replacing next week and then will be back on the rollers for more pulls.

Seems the loss of boost pressure with elevation isn’t linear.

You made the same as me pulley wise at 1200 as I did at sea level.

Come up to 3800 and I lost 2 psi. Needed a 3.5 to see 15psi.

I’m on a 2.9 upper and only see @19. Really woke the blower up though.
