If I were to, say, get hold of either a new or lightly used KB or Whipple, and dropped it on my truck without changing anything else, would I have to get a tune, and would I get any kind of performance gains?

I remember reading an old magazine about when they swapped the Blowzilla on the Lightning. They gained 55rwhp with the same pulley setup.
Def get a retune before pushing the truck into boost.

You would definitely get performance gains and need a tune.
Now to find an older screw-type blower for cheap... <_< >_>
