What would be the total cost for that setup to do it right, suspension upgrades, but just the minimum, not any extra stuff. I want a daily driver but also something reliable. I heard around 6000.00, maybe I'm way off, thanks, Doc.
50 BMG said:Optional (kinda in order of optional importance)-
1) Headers
2) New clutch/PP (most people burn up their stockers quick with twin screws)
3) New input shaft
4) IRS beef-up or SRA swap.
5) Engine cooling mods
6) Front brake upgrades, better rear brake pads + stainless lines. Keep it safe.
Thats an old issue and has been solved with the new design that does not have the oil catch can.RR03COBRA said:It seems that every Kenne Bell blower has oil blowing issues.
Potentn2o said:Like a lot of you, I went back and fourth between the Whipple and the Kenne Bell for some time. In the end I decided to go with the KB 2.4
So far I have not had any oil issues or other problems. It's been 100%
I have to admit that I do like the looks of the Whipple better than the KB.
When I decided to get the KB, the 2.4 was only two hundred bucks more than the 2.2. In the whole scheme of things, what's two hundred bucks more.
The main reason I decided to get the 2.4 is I figured I wouldn't have to work it as hard. The 2.4 makes four pounds more than the 2.2 with the same pulley. I ordered it with a 3.5" reused my stock belt and made sixteen pounds of boost. I then threw on a 3.25" pulley and made Eighteen pounds.
The car is a 04 with 6000 miles and the following items.
K&N FIPK
SCT BA 2400 MAF Sensor
KB 2.4 w/KB single blade throttle body
60 pound injectors
Focus pumps
SCT X-Cal 2
If it's not listed above, It's OEM
The car makes 570 RWHP with 18 pounds of boost. A/F was at 11.5-12.0 across the whole curve and never had more than 20 degrees of timing at any time. I think this would be considered a "safe" tune.
All this was through the stock exhaust. Manifolds to tailpipes.
The OEM clutch just gave up though. That's the next order of business.
I feel that both the KB and the Whipple are good blowers. I think you would be happy with either one.
Just do your research. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
