I recently put continental extreme contact d/w's on. They have great traction in the rain and good straight line traction but at highway speeds (60 and above) they feel very unstable. It feels like the rear end is swaying when I move steering wheel from right to left slightly. Checked over car on a lift. Suspension and all looks very good. Tried a bunch of different tire pressures it feels best at 40lbs. Any less and the sway is noticeable at even lower speeds. So has anyone else used the d/w's? Had any issues like I'm describing? Tire rack says they do have a softer sidewall then other tires and maybe they just don't work that great with my suspension and car? Seems like bmw guys love these tires. And what other tires are you guys running? Seems like all I can find are the dw's, Michelin which are on back order, bridgestones by guy at tire rack said they use slightly cheaper material then the dw's, and nitto which I hear run smaller then other brands? But just looking for advice as I have limited time to send these back and pick something else. Thanks for any input guys.

What size rims are the 295's on? What size rim and tire on front?

This. I have 255/295/35 Nitto Invo's on my 18x8 and 18x10 RKs and they feel perfect. I had a bunch of rear sway when I ran 335's on a 10.5 AFS rears but that was also with factory rubber bushings. I swapped wheels and bushings at the same time so I can't guarantee anything but my car is on rails now. My old bushings were destroyed and some were poly, some were rubber. Now they are all poly and new and it has made a huge improvement.

If you are running a 295/18 rear im assuming you have a 10/10.5 wheel. That says to me its probably time to do bushings and not the tires fault. That is the right width for that wheel so there should be no bulge. Soft sidewall or not it shouldn't feel unstable

Get a 305 or 315 on the back , to me a 295 tire on any 18" wheel seems stretched.

Hate to disagree but 295 on a 10 is the right size. No bulge, no stretch. Just right

I'm running 18x9 and x10 fr500s
I was running a 295 street tire in the back , but recently switched to a 305 drag radial

The 295 fit better.

265/40/18 and 315/35/18

On 18X9's and 18X10.5's with FTBR Bushings and Tie Rods. She is rock solid and steady on the road, into the triple digits.
