Will the HE corrode and rust if the coating is removed?

If I removed the black paint/anodizing on the Heat exchanger would the material underneath rust or corrode, or is it only painted so it wouldn't show.

it will rot and fall off your car like mine did, j/k its aluminum just like every other one , that means dont worry about it
