I have a 2.8 upper and stock lower. Gates 73.5 belt ngk tr6 gapped at .030 k&n fipk2 and everything else is stock. I wanted to know do I have to run an idler pully or would this be ok. Car is driven 4 days a week.

You probably don't "have" to use an aux idler, but with that small of an upper pulley, it would certainly help with potential belt slip issues by increasing belt wrap. And, is the 2.80 upper an "ultra grip" pulley or not?
yes it is an ultra grip pulley
