I believe they are a part of the alarm the previous owner installed before I bought it. I really wish i knew where this damn relay was so I could check for a short. Both ground wires are secure, and so is the chassis ground in the kick panel. If the ground somehow managed to get severed from the chassis ground I don't see where and it isn't loose.

I think the relay is integrated into the platform that the up/dn switches plug into...

really should ohm meter those grounds with the switch off.
and maybe volt meter it with the switch on...

I really wish I had one, much less knew how use it properly lol. I really have a feeling I'm gonna have to pay someone to take a look at it. I just don't want to get charged out the ass.

There should be a forum member with a meter and a haynes manual in the San Diego area.

You can get the entire module on ebay..but it looks like a lot soldering/splicing of wires..especially if I got you down the wrong path and it doesn't fix the problem...

I think you are very close.
the relay/switch is probably an IC/chip/module..and soldered in.

I gotta crash soon...

Its not fixed yet....

My audi has no power to the drivers door now.
B6 A4 known for chafing wires in the door/body boot....
All points to the power line being cut.
door has to be disassembled.

200k miles and strong 3.0.
PITA to work on though..nose off..nose on..nose off...nose on...

Might trade it in FL for a G35 coup though...for my DD.
I don't need the AWD anymore as I'm never crossing the frost line again!!!!!

keep us posted.
someone from San Diego may pop in...

hey...actually by looking at the diagram more closely..it may be that the switches could be/are your "relay" and that the housing is just a terminal block.

The drivers side is a fancier one touch down switch which MAY BE what they are trying to illlustrate to me.
EDIT: Then again it is probably just a redundant hidge ground.

But that shouldn't matter for now.
I think that's what that smaller black wire is for.....right now..
Tired and stupid is a bad thing to be.....

You said you always had trouble with one of them...

Try removing a switch at a time to see if you can get the others to work.
It has to be as simple as that..

I think I found the problem, I found a floating relay in the kick panel that looks tied into the regular system. It has a mount for a ground but wasn't bolted into anything. After a quick hold to metal I got the window to move up about 4 inches. I got cramped up being on the floor and being 6 foot 4 so I'm gonna go back tomorrow morning and finish mounting it properly. I took some pics of the relay I will post a little later tonight.

I'm relieved that you may have found it!!

Yah I'm 6'-3"; so I know what you mean.
It was acting like something common to all.

I should have had you remove a switch at time though...

Did you guys get this resolved? If not lmk and I can see if I can pull some diagrams off AllData for you and post them up - hell, I can just hotlink them from there and you can see them fine :D My car is a 1999 so not sure if there are significant changes in the wiring colors but if the diagrams might help either way, just let me know what ones you need.

I think the problem may be found.
It looks like it may be that loose ground lug under the side kick panel.
we'll see soon.

I misinterperated what the terninal block that the switches mount in actully is, but no harm was done.....

But the AllData diagram might be nice to see...and save to file.....
Wiring appears to be the same from 1994-2004.

Thanks!!

Funny, my driver side window did this today. I went to the store and my window wouldn't go up so I had to leave it down and unattended for a few minutes. When I got back still no luck. Got home, did some research here and did what everyone is recommending to do, and that it is to hold the up button while slamming my door AND IT WORKED. Ultimately I'm going to have to switch the window motor at some point. Thank you guys.

Sometimes the teeth on the window regulator are the actual problem.
They get worn and misaligned; So I'd check those when you get in there.
