I have HRE 18" rims, they are black with polished lips. I was just wondering if it is a HUGE deal to take them off during the summer? I live in KY so it does snow a couple times in the dec-feb months, but just wondered what effect the salt, etc has on these rims since they are not chrome. Anyone?

Whenever you have exposed metal, you have a chance at the salt pitting it. Clearcoat on the exposed metal will only save it for so long.

Agreed. Salt is hard on wheels. There are good looking inexpensive rims to use for winter. I use Bullitts. Others use older Cobra rims. I think I paid $125 each for mine. Using other rims will also extend the life of your tires if you switch them for snow tires every year since each install and removal puts stress on the sidewall.
