Changing my lower pully has now been a 3 day event going on four!
It all started with the upper bolt on the stock pully cage. i had to remove the fan and the fan shield to get to it with a bolt grip socket from irwin. (this tool is worth its weight in gold) here is a pic of that.

Moing on, Now i go the bell housing and lock up the bolt on the fly with a wrench like the instructions say. The i go the the front and go to work to find that this pully is not coming off. it has bent the tool that came in LFPs lower pully kit!!!

I now have to get another one of these things things in a rush since my truck is a daily driver! Grrr. Also it looks like i will have to remove the Radiator so i can take an impact to that sucker!

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS MUCH TROUBLE ON A LOWER PULLY CHANGE?

I would get one from a Snap-on, Mac, or a Matco dealer. Call a few local body shops and garages and get their phone numbers.

You know that the lower pulley is a reverse thread right? You will need avery long snipe to crack it loose. That allen socket is standard metric size. Any tool supply place will have it. Just can't recall the size.

Jack it up high, support it well, and put the wrench straight down. Then put your back against the drivers side tire and push with your foot. Or you can put the wrench at about 8 oclock and jack the wrench up with a floor jack.

my friend with an 03 L had the same problem.

you will just bend the next allen head, or like i did.... broke 3 ratchets.

long story short, you won't get it off unless you agitate it. do you have any air tools? or something that you can stick behind the pulley and get a pretty good vibration out of it?

also you need to shock it, so dont just push hard and evenly, u need to kick it/jolt it to break it loose.

its the only way for it to come off.

and for the back against the tire and what not. i had my foot on a breaker bar attached to the ratchet. snapped all 3 ratchets at the head.
