Zl1 and srt8 392 wwwhhhaaatttt???

I know this is going to turn into a bashing thread but whatever...

On the way to a Veterans Affairs appointment I see a red zl1 in my rearview mirror while cruising down the highway. I heard these guys "crush hopes and dreams"(lol)so I figured I'd slow down and give him a rev. He doesn't wait for the rev and hammers it right when I get next to him. I quickly threw her in 3rd and hammered on it but I was too low in the RPMs and he kept pulling until he let off due to the traffic in his lane. "Oh hell no!!", I thought and got next to him but this time I was in second(thank you DRs)and waited for him to jump. He jumps and pulls but then, of course, the noodle-framed Terminator pulls the UGLY zl1 until fourth, by then I was two cars ahead and slightly pulling.

Next, all in the same day(50*s today so she's running good)I see a srt8 392 as I'm entering the onramp and I start smiling, could this be the second kill for the obsolete Terminator? I get up next to the srt8 and she's new and looking sexy as hell. Two young men are in the vehicle so I figured I'd win anyway since I stereotyped the driver as a no-driving kid. Well, I dominated the srt8 not once but twice and I let him honk. It was a great looking car though.

from what i've seen a lot of stock ZL1's dyno under 500rwhp and go about 4,100 lbs

let's assume:
ZL1 500rwhp @ 4,100 lbs = 0.122 power to weight
Cobra 447rwhp @ 3,665 lbs = 0.122 power to weight

(i just used some random power to weight thing i found on google and that's the numbers it spit out)

+ / - a few pounds or a few horses and it's still close enough to be a drivers race. well, that and the difference in auto and stick.

given the bolt on 5.0's ability to handily smack down a ZL1 i would expect a lightly modded Cobra to do the same.

ran the SRT8 through the same calculator... numbers sourced on line:

avg rwhp seems to be 420 @ 4,170 lbs = 0.101 power to weight




i know those numbers don't really mean a lot "on the streets" but it does tell a decent part of the story.

The 392 was very sexy just a little heavy but for an everyday cruiser I'd pick it over the Terminator.

Zl1's don't dyno 500 in stock form. Usually range between 440-470 depending on weather and Trans. So comparable in power to a bolt on terminator but a lot heavier.
