Man no way in hell would a 2013 Shelby be capable of taking down a mighty ZR1!! Look at the times and mph these things put up at the track, and this one only has a custom tune!!! What was I thinking?? Poor Shelby... (smart ass sarcasm)

Now lets get serious. I know a stock ZR1 would be capable of running better times than this, but thats with good weather and a gifted driver.

Heres a 675rwhp G8 (heavier than a Shelby) spanking a ZR1's arse all night. On the ZR1's fastest pass it was still 3mph slower than the G8, and you cant say on that last pass the driver was horrible. 11.4 is a DECENT (not great) time on street tires.

Da was about 3000ft. Sure not great conditions, but what was the DA in Atlanta when the Shelby was hitting 125mph? I believe it was in the 2-3000ft range. Dont forget this ZR1 is TUNED and probably has 30rwhp more than a stock ZR1.

Heres another thing you have to think about. ZR1's typically dyno around 530-550rwhp. Shelby's are around 580-615. Thats 50-65 more, that wont wipe away the ZR1's 500lb weight advantage put it sure does put a dent in it.

update...apparently it went 9.8@145 Friday night at ATCO.

3.31 gear (factory ratio)
trans first gear 2.66 (factory ratio)
3750lbs+driver (factory weight)
655rwhp (tuned)
................................

I would beat on the gear being at least 3.73's.

Thanks.............DA being about +1100 feet Friday night.

Damn, 50rwhp gain takes a mid 11 sec @ 125mph car and brings it into the 9s @ 145. What would an extra 50rwhp on top of that do...like low 8s @ 165?

lol

everybody needs to calm down and take a breather. clearly the excitement is getting to everybody, but speculating performance numbers this early on (& w/ no proof) just makes you look like a dewshhhh.

I think all the new cars are impressive. Some are a little faster then others but that doesn't make the rest junk.
But, I have to say that some of the shit that some of you guy's say is ridiculous. Just by reading you can tell the guy's that have been around this stuff for a long time and the ones that read the internet and are now the next Bob Glidden.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, it is safe to say that the 13' GT500 is no longer being built as a direct competitor against the ZL1. Why would they even consider it given this car is pushing well over 600rwhp stock. It seems that ford has it's eyes set on the Z06 or even the ZR1 (IMO more towards the latter) with this shelby.

On that, can anyone think of another car for less than $60,000 that can yield 600rwhp or more? How about under $100K? This car right now if very impressive and not because of the power its making... its really should be nothing new to anyone on here... big blower shelby's have been making big power on here forever now but because of the MSRP it's been sold at. The new engine is nice but when you consider all the upgrades from 2012 to 2013 and it still listed at the same price you see how just how banana's this car really is.

In reality, you are buying a SUPER SNAKE (700hp++) for the price of a GT500. It's quite remarkable even if ford is taking a hit just to sell it under $60K.

Seems like ford is setting itself up for another "cobra" to fill the gap since the shelby is not being built to compete against the ZL1. Perhaps a TVS 5.0 weighing in around 3500-3600lbs. would be what we should all be looking out for. Great times to love american modern muscle... yeah they are getting more expensive (except for the shelby!) but the cars are more refined and faster in stock trim.

The '13 GT500 is a comparative bargain for what you get but the price did not stay the same. Base went up $5K.
