Just to throw my .02 in , this is quoted from my brother on MF. Apparently our dad (z28th1s on here) somehow got some inside info on the car. Accuracy/credibility can surely be questioned, as I have yet to talk to dad about how he came about getting the info....

Well just got a pic of the time slip of the evo car from my dad (he's at carlisle, pa ford nationals) and it goes like this....

1.493 60'
4.226 330'
[email protected] 1/8
8.406 1000'
10.021@141 1/4

I would of put up the pic but my phone and photo bucket are being gay lol

Mods are:
Pulley
Cai
Tb
tune
Shifter
bigs n littles
Stock mani's and midpipe.

With that said very f'ing impressive!!!!

Also the run was madecat 11:50a.m. may 31st at atco raceway if anybody wants to get the da for that run.

The ZR1 has been 1.2 seconds faster stock and 1 second faster with drag radials than the GT500 (yes those were hero runs but those are the numbers we have to work with so far). The difference between the GT500 and ZL1 is not greater than that.

IMO, the difference will be close. Once someone runs a GT500 in mineshaft air with smaller wheels and drag radials, (that 10.3x ZR1 pass you mention was on lightweight 17inch wheels with sticky DRs at the fastest track in the country).

In freak conditions I think the GT500 is a 129mph car, which would absolutely embarrass a ZL1 much like a ZR1 would run from a GT500, (if not even worse!)

The 11.2 pass with the GT500 was on smaller wheels and sticky drag radials, not on stock wheels. Although it wasn't mineshaft air. The ZL1 will benefit from those conditions as well. I stand by my statement.

MPH Averages
ZL1=116-119
GT500=125-129
ZR1=132-135 maybe??

Yea the Shelby is def closer to ZR1 performance. Id rather not go off ET being that both cars havent really been put thru their paces yet. As they get into the hands of more racers the ETs will drop. MPH is what it is.

ET's on a drag strip will be closer between the GT500 and ZL1, and times around a road course will be too. That's just the way it is. I'm not going to argue the point any more. Believe what you want.

ZR1s have run 9.60s @ 147mph+ with just bolt-ons and a cam; stop comparing it to a GT500. The ****ing car weighs 3300lbs with the same power potential and an ideal weight balance, you definitely get what you pay for in a ZR1; let's not go there.

A 2011 GT500 with wheels and tires ran an 11.0...:p

Give it time, I'm willing to bet someone takes a GT500 to ATCO or MIR in 50 degree weather this fall and runs 10s with just wheels and DRs. The ZL1 shouldn't even be used in the same sentence as a GT500 just like a ZR1 should not be used in the same sentence as a GT500.

It would take a hero run to stay close to a GT500 from the launch to about 60mph where after the GT500 would run away by freight train lengths. We are talking about a car that traps 9-10mph faster..:lol::lol: ( 125-126 mph to a ZL1s average 116-117mph to 127-129mph to a ZL1s freak 119-120mph). I don't care where it is, comparing the two is comical. :pop:

I agree though with what someone said...its hard to beat the price and power of the GT500...but is it the best car bang for buck? prob not..i still think that belongs to the 2011 and up 5.0 Mustangs if its a true bang for buck.. as i mentioned before the 2013 GT500s, too no fault of the consumers, are bringing damn near and into the $80k mark thanks to mark ups.

I've seen ZL1s go for $80k after markups too.

I remember in 2009 dealers marked up ZR1s to over $130,000. It is what it is, (100% irrelevant) dealerships are businesses. The GT500 is without a doubt the best bang for your buck car. It's not even a question.

You probably wouldn't even need headers to trap 135mph+ in a modded GT500 that drives 100% like a stock car. Hell, you could probably trap that and turn it back to stock in 30 minutes using hand tools and bring it to your dealership for warranty work. Bi

Fully forged motor, 2.3L TVS, the best stock cooling system in a PD car I've ever seen all in a car with available options you would see in an M3.

It's expensive, but there is no other new car you can get that would keep up for under $60k. The closest in a fiberglass 2 seater Z06, which is a totally different animal.

I can see a GT500 dipping into the 10's under ideal conditions on good tires. With skinnies up front too I'd say it'd be a certainty. Just one of the many reasons it'll probably be my next car.

So what i said was true based off mph right? The Shelby is indeed closer to the ZR1.

Exactly!! Bolt on AND a cam?? A cam swap isnt exactly a simple mod. Where as in 2 weeks after the car was released we already have one knocking on 9's @ 141mph. With very very minimal moads and thats only a few tenths and 6 mph slower than the more heavily modded ZR1. Still less of a gap than that of a stock zl1 vs shelby.

6mph is huge, and so are those few tenths considering the tires on that ZR1. Run into a bolt-on ZR1 in your bolt-on GT500 on the street and I can guarantee you it won't be pretty.

Anyways, it's nothing against the GT500 or ZL1. It is what it is. The GT500 is lighter and more powerful than the ZL1, and the ZR1 is way lighter than the GT500 with similar mod potential.

Im not saying 6mph isnt huge. But its less than the 10mph difference between the ZL1 and Shelby. Dont get it twisted, ive neve said the Shelby was as fast as the ZR1. Everyone knows it isnt, my point was the fact that its closer in performance to a ZR1 over a ZL1.

Also that ZR1 had a cam swap. That could be anywhere from 70-100rwhp on a lsx. Put that stock cam back in there and it might be only trapping 143. In that case it would be pretty close to an apples to apples race against lets say Evo's Shelby. The difference between the two would only be a couple mph. ZR1 would still win but it would still be a close ass race.

Accept it ppl the new Shelby is def in the ball park of the ZR1.

How long did it take the ZL1 to reach 9s?

GT500 is better than the ZL1 stock or mod for mod!
