I wouldn't call the speed 3 a waste of gas. there are a lot more of us out there now running big turbos and E85. Like any car just need to run into the right one :)

thats why there is no real alternatives to gas. there won't be any until we are depleted of that resource so they can milk peoples wallets for all they are worth

I had an 08 MS3 up until 2 months ago. 263hp from the factory which I thought was decent. Fun car and got 23mpg city.

I had a fully bolted 07 Speed 3 as well and If I didn't know what the new 5.0 ran I would of swore the speed was quicker especially from a roll going by sotp.
I miss my speed 3 but don't miss the gearing and wheel hop/traction issues.

I remember reading that they arent reliably at all even at stock. Engines blowing up!
However, I have seen some that run pretty damn fast! I always wondered how my 335i fared against one stock for stock.

Good kill O.P, i wonder if you were stock, how close would the race be

The first gens had issues with the motor motor mounts. A few people had their mounts fail and dropped the engine.

Looks like Mazda was going cheap on the car. But I read it was the rods, that they were soo crappy, maybe it was both?
