Did those vans come with a 4.6 or 5.4?
I don't recall seeing many 4.6 3v with the issues that the 5.4's were having. If its at 130k and you don't hear chain slap, it may be a good one. From what I remember, if they are going to have issues, they start around 100k.
What gear are you running in the rear? Even with a 3.73, I finish the 8th at the top of 3rd gear. Sounds like you are getting into 4th, which you shouldn't in the 8th. 2nd seemed to be nothing but spinning...a stickier tire will yield you some nice times!
Car is coming along! I remember when it was dipped white with gold bullitt wheels. I have loved watching your progress with it, and the attention to detail is great!
Any plans for boost down the line?
Ohhhh that's nice.
Can't wait for updates. Been following this build on instagram for years. Really love the attention to detail that has gone into it. Good work!
Good to hear! I am anxious to receive all of the items and really get to put a nice job into this car. I will try the microfiber pads next.
Thanks for all the help!
Well, I ended up ordering a new DA to try out, and the CCS Lake County foam pads. 3 orange, 2 polishing, and 1 for wax.
Also ordered the finishkare 425, and the Duragloss 105.
Going to start with the M205..
I'm definitely going to give the microfiber pads a try. I love that they can be washed, and microfiber gets better and better the more they are washed from what I hear. Definitely could get more use out of them than the traditional foam pads.
My paint really isn't in bad shape, so maybe I don't really need to go down to the m105.
Maybe I will start with m205, then sealant and wax. What do you use?
Yeah, I was looking into those but I would like a pad that lasts a little longer.
I was thinking 2 pads for each step of the process(M2015, M205, Wax), would be enough...but maybe I'm wrong...
That'll do it! lol
Did you manage to keep your stock e-brake cables? Everywhere I read said I would need to procure cobra ebrake cables for the swap.
I took the ratchet assembly apart in the car, climbed underneath and hooked up the cables to the calipers, then put the ratchet assembly back...
I have been using a DeWalt 849X rotary polisher, and I don't feel I have the patience or the touch to not produce "halos."
I used the Lake county 7.5 pads; blue with Meguiars M205, white with Meguairs M105.
I always wash with dish soap and clay bar to remove any wax, then tape everything off...
