First of all you WILL NOT outgrow it, so just get that out of your head - it is a personality thing, and most of us here have it! I just turned 43, and I'm no different in that regard, than I was at 23.:rollseyes The other thing about still thinking about other toys is pretty normal too. It's like having a super model/porn star for a wife... doesn't stop you from still checking out, or wondering how other girls would be, now does it?;-)

With modding the car, take your time, and don't just drop a huge amount of money all at once. Doing so will end the journey for you, you will get board, and sell it. Personalities like yours (or mine) need to keep the project interesting, and progressive to maintain that spark.;-)

BTW, my previous hot rod was a super quick '65 Cobra replica, which was my dream car from the age of 12, and I eventually got board, and sold it to buy my Terminator. No matter what I do to this car it will be difficult to ever match the acceleration of a 2,150 lb. car with over 400 hp, but I enjoy the journey of modifying it to try anyway! Very few sport bikes, even 1200's could outrun me.

Good points, I know, because I did 90% of my mods all at once, in early 07' , and have not done a thing since then,(except new rims) Mine is a DD I am bored with it,., I want cams, but I don't want to push it beyond that point were it becomes a pain in the ass

I feel ya OP im in the same boat! Before my 03 I had a 97 Cobra, I love my 03 and I still get excited to see her in the garage when it opens but for some reason I have had a very bad itch to get an older 4x4.
I think I just miss going out tearing up shit offroad and going camping. My girl has a nice 2010 Wrangler that she wheels but it's still hers so im not really able to beat on it.
I am actually looking for an old FS Bronco or something like that to build.

Nothing wrong with having two almost opposing passions as far as vehicles. I'm not talking bikes right now, but you have a fondness for both your Cobra and a 4X4. If you had the finances you could have both. If you don't then you have to compromise on one or the other. The fact that you raced bikes might allow you to get a bike (less expensive than a good 4X4 like the FJ) and enjoy your biggest passion, your Cobra.

By the way, I've always loved the Toyota FJ Cruiser. I probably would have bought one (bought a 2011 Buick LaCrosse) if it came with a comfort/luxury option, which it doesn't. But for off-road fun and good looks on the road, it's an awesome vehicle IMO.

Thanks for everyones point of view. Im glad to see im not alone with this :lol1:
Fortunately im in no rush to do anything. I was about set on the 2.76 with supporting mods/tune route but now I may have to look into a slightly larger pulley on the chance that roadracing pulls me back in.

I would love to go TS but I simply dont want to spend the $ with all the supporting mods, fuel etc.... plus I dont want the headache of future problems that may arise.

I too love my cobra to death but...

I have a similar issue as medicman. Maybe Jimmysidecar or someone can give me advice.
I had an 85 GT and a 93 LX (lots of mods), but dreamed of a Cobra. Three years ago I flew to Florida to pick up my o3 DSG cobra with 8,250 miles. Drove it back to Austin and it was one of the great moment of my car life. Then trained up and left for Afghanistan 7 months later. Fast forward- been back for a year and just don't drive the car that much. I am afraid to park it anywhere it is so pristine with 19,000 miles.
Finances are tight right now, but I have the track bug. I haven't gotten out yet but there is plenty of tracks/ action around. I still have the 93 and it is 70% ready for the track. (all MM braces/ CC plates, GT40X eng., fluidyne Rad., remote oil filter, electric fan, 5 lug 95 Cobra brakes/ booster, 3.73 rear, etc., etc.)
Cobra is mostly stock. (x pipe, exhaust, irs/ diff. braces, coils/plugs, aluminum intercooler tank)
One has to go. Selling the 93 doesn't get much to the Cobra or track expenses and I am still paying for the Cobra.
I have decided to let the Cobra go (moving slowly) to get the 93 up and get out and enjoy driving. The 93 is still so much fun to toss around and I am not worried about beating on it.
I love the Cobra but brakes/ tires will wear faster and there could be cooling issues/ damage.
I went long and sound whiny, but you guys know how we are with our mustangs. I want to DRIVE!!!

I would still go with the 2.76 pulley. The blower pulley itself is fairly cheap, and can easily be swapped out should you decide to drop a bit of boost later for road race use. And, with a size or two larger pulley swapped on.. the tune will be even more safe on the A/F side.

Most Cobras with just a 2.76 pulley, tune, and cat back, can put down around 450 rwhp. THAT will make you love your Cobra again!
LOL

BTW Sweet looking Cobra!

Being car guys (and gals), I don't think we can ever truly be happy with our cars. There is always something else we would want, or even a different variation of what we already have.

How do you think I feel? I bought my 03 this past saturday and I'm 17... my other buddy who is 18 bought his comp orange on the same day. Earlier today we were talking about what we were gonna do when we get bored of the terminators. Strange thing to think about at this point though.

I could never DD my Terminator.

A nice clean 4x4 Lifted or lowered (however u prefer) with a decent stereo and DVD with all the options is my most favorite cruiser.

Me either. If I DD mine, it would have been sold long ago, because keeping it as a "toy" is what keeps it interesting. I occasionally think about selling it, and buying a Raptor, or other cool 4x4, though.
