It was or is a 2004 Body in white which used to be available from FRPP.
It's basically a brand new body (no VIN) including floorpan,
roof, 1/4 panels, fenders, empty doors, hood and decklid.
No wiring, no suspension, etc.
Here's another pic of one.

Thanks for clarifing. That's interesting, I didn't think you could buy a whole shell like that. It's nice you get to build it just like you want it.

It has come pretty far.
Sometimes I go in the garage and just look at it realizing the progress.
It has tunes (Mach 460) and accessories all work.
100% new 04 Mach 1 wiring throughout the car.

Car has been running for quite a while,
and in all honesty,I forgot about this thread.
Videos of the car starting and driving,
and a new desgn upper intake pic.
Enjoy.
BTW: The torque of even a stock 5.4 is incredible.
Al is working on the motor, it will be 11:1, Al's secret cam recipe,
LT's (already have LT's on it.).

It has been a while, but the car is in the process of being painted now.
Torch red.
Only the body remains to be painted.
Doors, hood, fenders, decklid, spoiler, bumpers, sail panels all done.
Also, the motor is finished and waiting for me to pick it up
at Boss330 Racing.

Not sure, but time will tell.
I asked him to build it for high torque.
I know it's 11:1 CR, forged bottom end, balanced, Al ported heads,
and some camshaft.
Add that to the Aussie intake,
and I am hoping to put at least 400 to the wheels NA.

Whatever Ford "intended", as long as I have legitimate receipts for major components,
Florida DOT will assign it a New title.
Already spoke with them in person and told them what I was doing.
This car has been 4 years in the making,
and was used for developing the 5.4 32V swap kit.

Ive followed your Build up on the Registry and it really makes me want to do a 5.4 setup. Just can't afford the $$ and time, especially since i'd want an aluminum block

Believe it or not, iron 5.4 blocks and cranks are cheap.
I just installed a 5.4 32V in my buddy's 98 Cobra,
and you do not really feel the weight.
He is VERY used to the car before and after,
and I specifically asked him about it.
He needs a tune, but it does run strong,
and sits under a stock 98 Cobra hood, cold AC, etc.
He can be seen cruising around on weekends in Naples, Florida.................
(Chrome Yellow)
There are a few other swaps on the road using the "kit" also,
and a few being built right now.

I remember when you could buy those BIW's back a few years ago. Idle Wild Racing had three of them here in Largo. If I am correct they ran about $2800 without glass and a few hundred more with glass.

Actually, I bought mine from Steeda.
It one of the ones used to develop STB's
and other items for New Edge Mustangs.
Weird, as later I worked there,
and the guy (Steve Chichisola, Steeda engine builder) who loaded it on the trailer,
later became my Boss!
I am pretty excited to finally be completing the car.
The paint that is already finished really looks good.
The painter (AJ) has a 98 GT with a Mach 1 engine in it,
and needed the car to be re-wired for COP's and other things.
We worked out a trade.
I wired his car, ( and some chassis work) and he is painting mine.
Pure American Hotrodding.
(BTW: His car literally fired right up!
He was amazed)
Edit: I know how some people are about "Fobras",
but this car WILL have Cobra emblems on it, and an SVT emblem.
In this case, SVT stands for Steve's very tenacious!
I think it deserves the Cobra monikker.

Finally we will see some results! I'd have to agree with you about the iron block. It really doens't weigh THAT much more. If you think about it, didn't we all drive iron blocked 5.0's? Really, probably everything we drove before our Cobras had an iron block. Did you notice the wieght then? I think the heavy part of our motors is the heads.

Mine does not feel nose heavy at all.
My other car is a Mach 1, so I am used to both.
Terminators and New Edge GT's have iron blocks.
Some people make a big deal out of 100 lbs.
The 5.4 might actually weigh LESS than a blown 4.6,
no intercooler, etc.

Very glad to see you completing this project. 4 years is a long time. And i think you will represent the Cobra name well.
