Ultimate Gathering of SVTs @ #PITS2018

Just ask anyone in attendance, the first annual Ponies in the Smokies (“PITS”) show in Sevierville, TN was a resounding success. Jeff, Travis, KB, Troy, and the rest of the crew really knocked this one out of the park. SVTP was honored to be a part of the inaugural show. It was a fantastic first outing and we were left anxious to start strategizing for next year.

Incidentally, now it’s time to start putting plans into action for #PITS2018 and SVTP has something very special in store. Last year PITS tried to showcase one of ever model-year Mustang produced. Taking that idea, and improving upon it, SVTP has decided to assemble one of every SVT ever made (with a few other special guests thrown in for good measure). From the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra to the latest High-Po offering from Ford Performance we are...

Behind the Scenes: The Dealership Finance Department

Every dealership has a finance department; some are made up of a single individual, while others have a director or directors with several producers under each. Have you ever wondered why you are more or less herded to their office even if you are stroking a check for your newer vehicle?

Dealerships contain multiply profit centers under one roof that operate together (for the most part), like most businesses. The finance department is just one of the many departments within the dealership that is in place to turn a profit and streamline the customer experience...

The $95,000 Ford Super Duty is Here

Ford – America’s truck leader – today pulls off the wraps of a new F-Series Super Duty Limited that sets new luxury standards for high-end heavy-duty truckers.

With pricing at $87,100, the F-450 Limited delivers technology and comfort previously reserved only in premium flagship sedans, and it’s capable enough to tow more than 30,000 lbs. – about the weight of a stealthy Air Force F-35 fighter plane.

“The Super Duty lineup is a win for all of our customers, from successful ranchers to contractors to RV owners” said Todd Eckert, Ford Truck group marketing manager. “Super Duty Limited is the most luxurious and advanced heavy-duty pickup truck ever created by Ford for accomplished buyers with appetites for the high life and hard-earned dollars to match”...

VMP Performance's 2018 Coyote Engine Modification Preview

The crew over at VMP Performance have, not surprisingly, been digging deep into planning their modification strategy for the 2018 5.0 Coyote V8 Powered Mustang GT. It's no secret at this point that the 5.0 is due for some major updates, and those changes will bring with them a new set of challenges. To say that VMP is eager to get their hands dirty is an understatement...

Whipple Gen-3 Rotor Upgrade for the 2.9L Twin Screw Supercharger

Our friends over at Lethal Performance shared the following information about their New Exclusive Gen-3 Rotor Upgrade for the Whipple 2.9L Twin Screw Supercharger. This upgrade kit sounds like exactly what the twin-screw market has been looking for, and it's going to be very interesting to see how far early adopters will be able to push the performance envelope. Best of all, if you were thinking about pulling the trigger on a new Whipple kit you can get the Gen-3 upgrade for a mere $200 extra. That's a no-brainer in my book. Check out the full details below, and give Lethal Performance a call ordering details...

SVTP Garage Pass for The 12-Hours of Sebring

“There’s nothing stock about a Stock Car.”, so says fictional racing legend Harry Hogg from 1990’s Days of Thunder. And while I am a proponent of the “stock sucks” philosophy, when it comes to auto racing my heart lies with actual stock cars (something NASCAR Cup racing gave up decades ago). There’s just something about watching a factory-bodied Mustang out there beating up on the competition that hits me right in the feels. And when it comes to Mustang racing it’s tough to beat the excitement of the IMSA Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge series.

We recently traveled to Sebring, FL for a very unique opportunity; to be embedded with the KOHR Motorsports race team. We were invited for a behind-the-scenes view that few get to experience. The Sebring IMSA race lasts a grueling twelve...

SVTP's Coverage of #PITS 2017

What a way to kick of the show season! After the seemingly unending crappy weather of winter we are greeted by sunshine and pleasant temperatures in Eastern Tennessee’s beautiful Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Sevierville, TN was the chosen location for the first annual Ponies in the Smokies (PITS) show, and that was an excellent choice. Long known as a vacation destination, the Sevierville/Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge area is also an automotive gathering Meca; and the host of several major shows each year.

The PITS organizers developed the event around the area’s strong outlaw and bootlegger history. Over the past few years the area has embraced its moonshining legacy and has permitted the construction of several legal moonshine distilleries. Picking up on that theme the PITS crew created the Shine Run, a...

1965 vs. 2015 Mustang Museum Display

It’s hard to imagine, but many of the original Mustang features were not patented until well after the car was in production. These days the modern Mustang is a rolling piece of intellectual property and that sort of innovation is what’s being celebrated at the National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum by a unique fusion of a classic 1965 Mustang and a modern 2015 Mustang.

This unique, conjoined Mustang—built by the clever craftsmen at Classic Design Concepts—is now on permanent display as part of the Intellectual Property Power Exhibit within the National Inventors Hall of Fame museum. This museum is located on the United States Patent and Trademark Office campus in Alexandria, Virginia...

SVTP Previews the Magnuson 4.6 3V Supercharger System

After the success we have experienced with the 2.3L Magnuson supercharger kit on the 5.0 Coyote Powered SVTP GT we we’re really excited to get a chance to work with its little brother. Magnuson’s MP1900 TVS Supercharger Kit for 2007-2009 S197 Mustangs with the 4.6L 3V V8 is a truly impressive looking system. The 1900 TVS blower features Eaton’s latest 6th Generation supercharger rotor technology, which can also be found in 2013-14 SVT Mustang GT500 5.8L Trinity engine. Eaton’s TVS technology consists of a pair of four-lobe, high-helix rotors with 160-degrees of overall twist. This results in a supercharger that requires less power to...

SVTP Reviews True Forged's New Mustang Jacking Pad

True Forged’s new Jacking Pads are one of those “well duh” tools that everyone needs in their toolboxes. If you own an S-197 Mustang you know what a pain it can be to properly jack your car up without crushing the pinch weld seam (Ford’s recommended area from which to lift the car). True Forged owner Steve Medina saw the opportunity here to develop a product to make Mustang modder’s lives a little easier. After a few prototypes and a couple of revisions Steve@TF has brought to market the True Forged Jacking Pad...
