I know some of you 2K Cobra R owners have owned Terminators also. In another thread a little debate got started up on which is a quicker accelerating car a stock 2000 Cobra R or a stock 03/04 Cobra. I believe both cars stock the Cobra R would slowly pull away from a stock Terminator in either a roll or DR. Some others disagree. Obviously a 00 Cobra R should wear out a Terminator on a road course

Does anybody here that has experience with both know which car would win out in a straight line all things being equal?(conditions, drivers, etc)

The subject gets brought up here on page 9, and post # 216.

Obviously this is a stupid debate, but it's the internet so just go with it please.

Thanks!

Another local SVTP member/friend 97SVTSTANG and I plan on running up at Cecil County drag strip in the spring. He has an all stock 03 cobra with 9k miles and I have an all stock 00R with just about 2k miles. There is an article about this. I can see if I can find it. But I believe the 03-04 cobra beat the 00R. buy .1 of a second.

^Cool and thanks guys!!!

That article posts 2 different times for both cars. One where the R is faster and one where the Terminator is faster. The fastest time being a 12.942 at 111.51 mph posted by the Cobra R. I think they would probably hang pretty even to an extent. Both cars are rated within 5 hp, and 5 lb-ft of one another. Ford rates the Cobra R at I believe 75 lbs less than a Terminator. Both cars run 3.55's, but I don't know if their trannies are geared the same or not. While I was never overly impressed with them on my old 99 Roush Stage 2 BFG G-Force KD's are sticker than the GY Eagle GS F1's that come factory on a stock 03/04 Cobra if you want to break it down as far as tires.

BTW where do 2K Cobra R's redline? I thought it was 7,500 RPM's, but the dyno chart that article posts only shows it going to 6,400 RPM. Still I guess 7,500 RPM is a pretty fast engine speed for a motor with a 4.165" stroke. My 2v L redlines at 5,250 RPM's. 2v Modular heads don't quite flow as well as the Modular 4v heads. lol

Y'all should get video of this race. I would love to see it.

I owned both at the same time----hard to say. If we were "playing" hard the 00R got it off the line, but the 03 came on hard. In articles I have they are with in .1sec in the quarter.

Since the weather was perfect yesterday, I pulled the Cobra out of the garage and washed it. Are you taking the R to OC? When we goin to Cecil?

^^^^^^^^^^That is a good side-by-side feature, but there are independent magazine tests of each of these cars that show them going deeper into the 12's. If I remember correctly SpeedVision on-line got a best of 12.4@111mph out of a bone stock 2000 Cobra R, infact I believe Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords also did a "Thrashing the 2000 Cobra R" <<or something like that and tested a 2000R for many days in many ways. The drag strip test that they did netted 12.6@113mph I believe. The 2003 Cobra also had much better times in independent tests, I remember 12.7, 12.6 and I believe a 12.4 or 5 also when it was tested new from Ford as a media loaner car to the magazines.

I have all of these 2000R magazines in my archieves, getting to them?, that is a whole other story, and then finding specific features and articles?.........

Awesome, is someone driving the SSP down too? I have been wanting to see it.

Sounds good, I am ready.

BTW - Do you know any good detailers in the area?

Detail the car yourself...I do mine. I will send you a list of everything that I use. It is simple, but time consuming.

I am going to sell the SSP and pick up something different. It would look quite nice in your garage!

Well since you detail cars, I have one for you to do! HAHAHA...send me the list.

HAHA, well, I don't have any room in my garage right now. What are you thinking about getting?

You have to make sure you get the numbers for the two different cars from the same source. I know that MM&FF will do all sorts of things to get better times, ie: lower tire pressure in the front and raise in the rear, remove any items that can be reasonably unbolted, sit a bag of ice on the intake for 1/2 hour, etc., while other mags won't go through all that.

When I was drag racing my Terminator, stock, I was running consistent 12.8s with a full interior and stock tires.

That is the average that most magazines were getting for both of these cars. 12.8 and 12.9 were common in most magazine tests.

It seems like Evan from MM&FF was/is always able to coax a little more out of the cars he tests. If the "tricks" you mentioned were used to achieve better numbers on either of these cars when tested, that is not "real world".
