Hey SVTP,
I decided to remove my Autometer Dash Pod and reinstall my OEM clock.
Everything on my dash has a Blue theme including my Radio and all my Gauges so I decided to tackle a Voltage Gauge Mod inside the clock. The clock is useless and has an ugly green color to it. This Mod was pretty damn easy and only cost about $15
Let me know what you think
HERE IT GOES!!

I Purchased a few LED Voltage indicators off eBay. They only cost about $4-$6 each. Since they were so cheap I bought 3 of them. I purchased a Red one and 2 Blue ones. They come in 2 & 3 wire configurations. I ended up using the 3 wire configuration. Either one will work. It just depends what voltage you want to measure. They ship out of China and seem to be very good quality.

Here is the OEM Housing and Clock removed. It is held on by a few Torx screws.

I used a dremel to easily remove the LED portion of the clock. Discard this in the trash. It will no longer be used

I then took the back portion of clock apart and cut the ribbon cable attached to it. You can discard the back portion as well

Here I layed the LED Voltage indicator on the black chip of the OEM clock and marked the holes before drilling. There are a number of ways to attach the LED indicator (Hot Glue-Double sided tape-Screws) I decided to use double sided tape and screws. Way overkill!! :)

LED indicator has been mounted, wired up. and back portion of OEM Clock installed

Couldnt be happier with how it came out. It looks and fits great! It's bright and perfectly centered too.

Mounted to Dashboard and wired up. My LED indicator is measuring the voltage directly from the battery. I have a 4 Gauge lead coming from the battery to a custom fuse panel in my glovebox.

-If anybody wants to do this mod I have 2 EXTRA LED Voltage indicators!
I have a 3 Wire Red LED Indicator & I have a 2 Wire Blue LED Indicator.
Both will work just fine. There is no real difference between the two.
They came from China which took about 2 weeks.

Beautiful!

Btw. What is the lowest you have seen the voltage at idle with rad fan running and head lights and fogs on?

This is a cool idea! Who are you man??! Where do you come up with all your ideas? Your build thread is unbelievable! If I had the money, you are spot on to how I would build my car except I never would have thought to convert every bolt to a socket cap. Great ideas man! Keep'em coming!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I remember seeing somebody do this with a wideband. Anything is possible if terminated correctly. This mod was so damn easy.

Good work, nice write-up!! I might have to locate a dash-mounted clock, just so I can do this mod LOL.

These clocks are a dime a dozen. They are all over eBay and I guarantee someone here on SVTP has an extra one.
I also have 2 extra LED Voltage indicators if anybody needs one
One is Red and one is blue
