Regarding the killer chiller, I mean a/c cooling idea, nice work. It's cool to see an OEM bringing attention to this admittedly easy and effective cooling technique.

Regarding turbo vs sc, it'd be great to see Ford offer the first domestic turbo v8 in the modern era, and I was very hopeful of it. It doesn't look like that's the end product anymore. I hope it is.

If it's sc'd, I hope they cool the hell out of it to keep heat sink at bay. The honest among us know that a factory sc setup (much lower stress than aftermarket builds) can be produced in a way that mitigates most all heat sink.

Case in point, the gen 7(? 6.5?) Camaro zl1. Same lt4 engine but much revised cooling design basically doesn't allow it to heat sink.

In all truth, as a fan of fast fords, if they can meet and exceed the zl1 in most all perimeters while keeping in line with a $62,500-75,000 price range, the car will be epic.

An M4 makes 440hp for that money. It would take big money to buy a comparable amg or M product. Honestly they don't even have any 650hp muscle coupes under 4000lbs for sale, save the $185-275k amg gt variants, going over to Porsche, you'd be looking deep into 911 gt2 territory to get that kind of power/weight.

I digress. I want real news on this thing, I'm getting bored speculating...

If I could do this in a new GT500 with software only I'd be happy:

You can get these once $100K+ cars now in the 40s. Not much good for anything other than straight line and cruising though.

I'm starting to lose my enthusiasm for the new GT500. The S/C 5.2L just seems like "been there, done that." I was really hoping Ford would bring something new to the table. Plus, I'm not sure how much power the 5.2 will make. It just doesn't excite me as much anymore.

Maybe when it's finally released and we see some specs it will reinvigorate my desire. Hopefully we'll know something soon.

Wouldnt an AC cooled intake require lots of drag on the system? How much net gain would you see there?

Regardless, the ac system would be operational in order to cool, creating drag on the system.

Good question. I wonder if the net gain is 45hp or if it's used prior to a run but not during to avoid parasitic loss.

If the car has 750-800 HP, I'm sure your interest will peak. :)

I think you're right that my interest would peak; however, 750-800 HP from a S/C 5.2? Not sure if that's really going to happen. Consider:

First GT500's were 5.4L and made 500 HP
Then next was the 5.4L and made 550 HP
13-14's were 5.8L and made 662 HP

I just don't see the 5.2L (10% less cubes than the 5.8) making 750-800 HP (or 13%-21% more than the 5.8L's 662 HP) with a full factory warranty.

The limiting factor is always the size of blower or turbo(s) not the displacement of the engine. As far as peak goes anyway.
